    LMS on RPI4

Hi, as requested by M. Herger in other topic, I start a new one with my doubts.

    Starting the RPI4 LMS Project!

    Some questions:
Is NFS the best way to mount the synology hdd were Music and playlist are stored?
I had to tried several times, mount message was ok but LMS not see any file when scanning. Finally I did it, but I am not totally sure why some time works and others doesn’t.
Any recommendation about best way to access NAS files?

LMS server (over picoreplayer) has a big warning for proper shutdown...is it means that I am going to setting everything again in case of power cut? I do not have an UPS.
Is there a way to be protected of this?

    Thanks
    CSL

When you have finished all of your configuration make a back-up image.

It is easy to shut down the pi remotely using either a ssh session or web based instructions from a smart phone

      NFS
Is the Pi wired or wireless? Technically it can be either but if wireless it’s very likely that you will have issues mounting your NFS folders at boot up.

If you look at the piCorePlayer documentation there is an example of how to mount a Synology folder via NFS

        Wired.
I followed that guide, but some times the music folder is, and other LMS only see the parent folder.

        Cheers

File permissions / ownership issues then.

regarding a "power cut", many people report that such things never cause a problem with their SD card being corrupted. It certainly can corrupt the card, but it just depends. A copy of the SD card as suggested can have you back in business in seconds.

              Yes!
Finally with read/write and map all users to admin privilege everything is working perfect.
              Thanks.

                Perfect.
I am going to make some test, maybe my problem with nfs permissions had something to do with the RPI not restarting well.

                Thanks

Whats the best way to copy the sd card?
I need to do it in other pc or can be done from the RPI it self?

                  Thanks

I make an image copy using my separate PC and win32diskimager program.

This is what I do, but on a Mac and I use Apple Pi Baker. But I think pCP 7.1.0 has SD card backup built-in, though I've not used it.

                        pCP 7.0.1.

Yes, I've used it, flashed an SD card from the backup it made, swapped it with the original, playing music as soon as it booted.

                        Magic.

Backup is done, and everything is working.
Tomorrow challenge is install Unpn plugin to mix RPI players with a couple of Sonos.
Today I can not find the generate button described in the instructions.

                            Cheers

                              Some pictures

RPI 4 2 gb in official case, with ventilator added running LMS 8.1 and one of my players.
Still fighting with UnPN bridge to add some sonos speakers!
