My desktop just blew up so I am trying to run a fresh LMS 7.7.5 install on my old Win10 32bit laptop. The SB3s are wired to the router. Everything works fine if the laptop is also wired in. But if the laptop is connected wirelessly, then the SB3 sees the laptop's media server but fails to connect. Any idea why this might be? Everything else works fine on the laptop...

When the laptop is connected via etWhen the SB3 obtains the IP address automatically, it comes up with 192.168.1.70. It connects to "Laptop 192.168.1.64" - this works. Even though in LMS Control Panel it says the Server IP Address is 192.168.1.72.
Then I go to wireless. I stopped and restarted LMS to be on the safe side. The Server IP Address in LMS Control Panel is unchanged. On the SB3 I go to Set Up Networking -> Connect to ethernet network -> Obtain IP Automatically (192.168.1.70) -> Connect to server (Laptop 102.168.1.72). It then waits for about 10 seconds saying connecting to server, but fails.
I am sorry, but i don't know about subnets and so on. Am prety sure the guest account on the router isn't enabled. For some reason when I try to get the SB3 to connect to the network wirelessly it sees all my neighbours' routers but not mine, even though I have both 2.4 and 5GHz networks enabled, and all my other devices see the router.SB3 -> Quad 909 -> Quad Electrostatic speakers, Quad 405 -> TBI subwoofer

SB3 can only connect to the 2.4 G network, it cannot see 5.0 N networks. Try temporarily connecting BOTH laptop and SB3 to only the 2.4 G WiFi. Might even try disabling 5.0 N all together just to confirm both are only on G WiFi. It sure sounds like your router is preventing or isolating G devices from seeing the main network (N or wired).
Another troubleshooting idea: once SB3 is on WiFi see if it can connect directly to MySB.com and play a station (don't even have LMS running).

Well disabling the windows firewall seems to have fixed the problem. So I went into Network and Sharing Centre and found that media streaming was turned off. I turned that on and all seems fine now. Not sure why that affects the laptop on wifi and not ethernet but so be it.
Many thanks for your help. Got there in the end!SB3 -> Quad 909 -> Quad Electrostatic speakers, Quad 405 -> TBI subwoofer
