Interesting, I didn't know about this. I don't know any of them personally, but it's hard for me to believe that any of the key developers who signed that message would just walk away. I suppose they may need to fork though...

Thinking about this, it seems to me that The Register's sensationalist style over dramatized this story. I mean, this sort of thing probably happens all the time, right? Forks happen. This was just a particularly high profile potential case. I should remember that I read The Register primarily because it is entertaining...and sometimes the content gets buried beneath the style.
