    LMS won't start on pCP

LMS crashed last night and I can't get it to restart. I've tried rebooting piCorePlayer (version 8.2.0 on Raz Pi 3) several times, and that's not getting me anywhere.

I've attached the LMS Log which is showing errors but I'm not even a novice coder so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Copied this from the bottom of the pCP browser interface in case any of it is relevant:

    piCorePlayer | piCorePlayer v8.2.0 | www v00017 | linux 5.15.35-pcpCore-v7 (32) | piCore v13.2 | Squeezelite v1.9.9-1392-pCP

Any guidance or advice would be very much appreciated!

    Not looking good.
If you have a backup then it is probably time to restore from it.
If you do not then you could try telling pCP to remove the LMS cache (meaning you will lose a lot of things - including your plugins and music database) and hope that LMS will create a new empty system on restart.
If that fails - you could try tell pCP to also remote LMS (and cache) and then reinstall LMS.
All those options are on the pCP LMS page.

If you have Linux command line skills you could try removing/replacing some LMS database (and related) files to see if you can restore things.

However, you might have a corrupted file system on your SD card - due to a mishap or a failing card.
So - something else you could do is start off again from a fresh SD card and keep the old one for investigation/rescue work later.

Check your free disk space. Did you expand it to the maximum of your SD card?

Is that done via the "Resize FS" option under the "Additional functions" section on the main page of pCP?

Edit: Never mind... I did a little hunting and figured out that is what you meant... working on it now

Edit2: Okay, I did as you suggested but still no good. Same error occurs when trying to start up LMS

I don't recall creating a backup anytime recently, so I'm probably out of luck there. They aren't automatically created, are they? I didn't see any options on the pCP LMS page about restoring from a backup either. If there is a backup file would it be located on my mounted USB HD?

Seems something is quite broke with the cache.

did you do a full scan after resizing?

Ill let the previous posters help with your problem, but I'll fill in some info on backups. You would go to pcp UI->main->additional functions->create SD Image. You would choose a mounted location for your backup**. You can choose to create a full SD image, or just the two pcp partitions.

** some thoughts. You can keep your LMS cache/prefs on the SD, create a third partion (which I do), or move it to another mounted drive (say a USB HDD). One thing to keep in mind, if you keep it on the SD card (original location or 3rd partition), your backup includes all of your settings and prefs (favorited, podcasts, etc). If you have it on another drive, you need to remember to back that up as well.

Then, if you have a crash/corruption, you unzip the backup file and use an app to write the image to a new or same SD card, similar to what you did when you built your pcp.

Hey Paul, sorry for the delayed response!

Do you mean an LMS full rescan? Is it possible to execute that without being able to start LMS? I looked through all of the pCP menus and couldn’t find anything related to scanning.

Since LMS does not start, traut can't scan from within LMS...

If I were OP, I would start from scratch with a new image, preferably on a new SD card. And this time, after you have your system running, create an SD card backup image as explained by Redrum.

From the LMS log file, its not clear that LMS wasn't starting, but fair enough. You can delete the cache file manually.

                        Code:
                        cd /usr/local/slimserver/Cache
                        rm cache.db
                        Then try to restart LMS.
