A follow-up to the above post. The priority setting ultimately did not affect much. However, I did switch the USB cable from one of the USB 2 ports to one of the middle USB 3 ports on the RPi 4 and this seems to have solved the problem. Haven't had a sound stoppage since. Certainly worth a try as it costs nothing and unplugging/replugging a cable is about as simple as things get.

It is a bit too soon to know for sure if this is a fix, but I changed the priority setting on Squeezelite down to 15 from the default 45 and it seems to be helping. Haven't had a stoppage since, but I do need some additional listening sessions to see if anything pops up. Might be worth others trying. It is also an easy change and fast to implement.

    Just want confirm this behavior.
I've had the problem from the start. However mine seems to be less intrusive. My plays all day every day. It's controlled by a cronjob on the LMS server. It might happen twice in one week. Sometimes 3 weeks go by and no issues. Usually happens when I'm not home so no clue as to why or exactly when it crashed. It plays only personal library, no streaming.

This has always bugged me I'm glad to know I'm not alone.

    Thanks,

    Living Room | piCorePlayer v8.0.0 | www v00016 | linux 5.10.42-pcpCore-v8 (64) | piCore v13.0 | Squeezelite v1.9.9-1386-pCP

Interesting -- I've been having a similar issue with my pCP/RPi 4 player, but not with radio. I have a local collection as well as a Qobuz subscription. All will play fine, often for an hour or two or more and then just stop. Restarting Squeezelite brings the music back. My RPi/pCP is a player only. LMS is on a separate PC and doesn't appear to be a factor. This just started a month or so ago. Software is piCore v13.2 | Squeezelite v1.9.9-1419-pCP and update shows this is the most current version. USB output is used. I've got another RPi3/pCP player with a HiFiBerry DAC2HD card on it and haven't noticed this issue so far.

As far as I can see, each time Squeezeplay stops working and needs to be restarted, it’s seems that it’s when I am listening to A Radiostream (RTBF La Première) via the wonderful Radio Now Playing ;-). But can’t 100% confirm this. Have not enabled/looked at logs and over the last 4 weeks, haven’t experienced the issue again.

If a missing ffmpeg was the cause of a stream not playing then I would expect that it would never play for you rather than have an intermittent issue - assuming you always picked the same stream to play (there are a few different options).

Ok, let's see if it happen again... Don't think radioFrance strike is the cause. Was just questionning the plugin itself as each time my squeezeplayer went off by themself, my last action was to start a radiofrance webradio. (plus didjean was also talking about webradio..)
Just checked my LMS log (from LMS interface) and I had an error "ffmpeg missing". Si I installed the pcp-ffmpeg extension from pcp backend. Maybe that was the cause of issue ? :/

Thanks for you help (and for radiofrance plugin (listening a lot here too !)

My Radio France plugin simply passes a stream URL for LMS to play.
If one of the stream URLs is incorrect then I would expect a lot of people to report the problem (plus it is played here every day).
Note - however, some people at Radio France (and a lot of other places in France) have been on strike for 2 days because of the state pension reforms - so things temporarily not working there might have other causes.

Hi same issue for me. Happen since 8.2.0 update.
I've got pcp running on 5 Rpi. One of them also host LMS (from PCP)

Last time only one squeezeplayer had to be restarted from pcp backend (at this time was listening a webradio -FIP, from radiofracne plugin)
This morning, I had to restart the 4 squeezeplayer from pcp (but not the one that host LMS !?). Yesterday evening was listening to spotify. This morning, When I started the webradio FranceInter (also from radiofrance plugin) the 4 player didn't worked (no sound).

didjean which radio stram were you listening ?

paul- Maybe radiofrance plugin issue ? Can't reproduce the issue "on demand" so difficult to log anything.

You can enable logging on the squeezelite page, but it will create alot of data fast. I would only enable logging if you can reproduce the crash. Perhaps it is always the same station that causes the issue ??

After a long period without issue, it just happened again this morning. It seems to always happen when listening to a radio stream. No sure it will be easy to reproduce the crash. Is there a way to collect logs?
