PiCorePlayer USB DAC Choice Problem

If I have to guess at this point, there is a driver missing for some other function of the board that is preventing things from working. If you can test using a full featured OS, the dmesg output and lsmod output would be helpful.

Thanks for your advice, Paul - again, I don't understand (!) "Test using a full featured OS" - do you have a suggestion of an OS I should try?
P.S. My DAC has always worked with my original SB Touch (over a decade old) - no driver issues there, so not sure why that would be an issue here....? (But what do I know! )

Just quickly: whilst here, pull the usb cable out from the Dac, wait 30 secs or so, then plugg it back in.

Wait again for 30 secs or so the type lsmod again

Does the output change ?

Is it a usb 2 certified cable.

I know that sometimes drivers are dropped from the kernel, but not often.

Try this desktop first

Use rpi imager tool to make the image, one can preconfigure the imaage partially.

Raspberry pi has a long, not so good, history with regards to USB devices. But the pi4 mostly fixed those problems.....mostly. Up until the pi4, a USB dac simply was never recommended on a RPi device.
