Made some new Meters for Picoreplayer using Peppymeter images
I did find a reference to Squeezeplay and downloaded it to my laptop but as it wasnt the active player ...
Appreciate your help in clarifying.

I'm not all that technical and I have no idea how these meters all work so please be kind if this is an unbelievably dumb question
I see some VU meters as installable extensions for piCore. What are the options for displaying them? I don't have a dedicated display for any of my players - I just manage everything via material skin on phone and tablet
If you fancy adding a screen i would go with the official Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen Display as it works right out of the box with Picoreplayer and Jivelite (just plug it in and off you go) another way is use your TV and use the hdmi output from the Pi to display info or another way if you have a spare Pi about is setup Picoreplayer and Jivelite plug it into a TV and sync to your main player or server i do it this way to have music for say my bedroom
Ah - I forgot the sync trick.
In that case the SqueezePlay/JiveLite+Squeezelite is playing the same as your real player but (probably) without speakers etc attached.

I spent some time fiddling around with this using the sync trick (thanks - very ingenious) .
I see Analogue VU meter is "on" in the now playing view menu but nothing displaying. It was just for fun so I've stopped messing about so I can listen to some music instead.

Do you see the meters but they stayed flat ... or not see any meters at all?
If they were flat then tell that JiveLite/Squeezeplay to control the player on the same machine not the real player.
If you did not see the meters then switch the Now Playing view - I think from the keyboard you can do it with open square bracket (but might be different for olders versions).
Or (temporarily) ... set the meters as the only available NowPlaying view.

Ok. Thanks very much indeed for helping. They're on a yellow card right now. One more fail and it's a red.

Is it possible to get those new meters directly into the normal piCorePlayer installation and also to have the possibility to have them on one screen with the album art etc.?

Fantasic work along with very easy to follow instructions. I ran into trouble with my Pi4 pCP install. I couldn't get Jivelite to install on 8.2 in either 32 or 64, but 8.1/32 worked fine. With Jivelite working I turned to adding you Mini PrettyMeters. Once I made sure I grabbed to right meters for my 7" Pi screen (and not the HD images) I ran into trouble installing using the simplified method of getting your custom joggler skin to work. I went back to your original method on unpacking the pCP tcz file, adding you .lua file, and rebooting - worked like a charm! Looks terrific and works perfectly. Before trying this method I opened up more space on my SD card (I just let it use the whole card - a 16GB Samsung). I think that the failure of my earlier attempts might be traced to a different version of Squeezelite. I'm running Squeezelite v1.9.9-1391-pCP. The unpacking method adds a few extra steps but I found that it only takes a minute or two more.
Thank you for your hard work and kind assistance in getting things working. And to all the folks who've put this incredible pCP package together - truly awesome work!
