That's a lot of DAC, and a lot of money!

My Video Review: The most secretive and mysterious DAC manufacturer from China is surely Gustard. They aren’t amazing when it comes to web design, they aren’t that great when it comes to marketing, they still struggle putting their drivers online, they aren’t very talkative in a language other than Chinese…but they surely know what they …

But I hear exactly the same audible glitches with the SLX & Primary Sound Driver & Ogg/Vorbis playback of my local files. I am not surprised to be honest, based upon my earlier testing I don't think drivers are causing this. It is perhaps more interesting to analyze differences between pCP v5 [detailed settings, squeezelite etc.] (which worked fine) and later versions regarding Ogg/Vorbis playback.
I'm afraid I have nothing more to offer, but I have never heard this with SLX myself and I don't have any Ogg/Vorbis local files, but Spotify uses Ogg and I don't have an issue there. pCP v5 apparently used squeezelite version 1.9.2-1158. And looking at raplhy's github I see several changes/commits to opus / vorbis related code in the early August 2019 timeframe just after pCP v5, including changes to the vorbis buffering system. Anyway, I'm beyond my usefulness, so I'll step back and watch, and pay more attention for this when playing via SLX on my computer.

I already posted an issue at Github / Squeezelite in September, I think your comments about the buffering are valuable additional info. So far the posted issue over there remain silent.

          • hifiberry digi2 pro

Hi, I've just got the above hat for a new Pi4, pcp 8.1 loads ok. I go to squeezelite settings and go for the digi + pro setting. Unfortunately then squeezelite does not start.

Basically what am I doing wrong, and where can I find a relevant log?

Have tried many reboots with no luck thus far.

First I would test your setup using hifiberry OS, I've seen those cards be non-functional.

              • Boot Partition is mounted

I have noticed that my Boot partition is not being unmounted. I noticed it a few days ago and assumed that I had mounted it to just look around, I rebooted and checked to ensure that it had been unmounted, today I checked and it's mounted again. How would I sort this out? Electrical outages are common in area, so it is possible it has lost power since yesterday.

I'm running a pi4 with Justboom digi hat and LMS plus I have a usb flash drive attached that contain the media files.

                Thanks,
                Anthony

                • What are you doing with your system? It only gets mounted at boot, or when you make a boot configuration change. It should be unmounted right away after making the change. Are you making lots of changes all the time?

If you look at diagnostic/raspberry pi, uptime should be on that screen.

                    Paul,
I have not made any changes to the system files. I know I did manually mount the boot drive once out of curiosity, but not to make any changes. I am using it as it was installed in a scratch build to v8.0. I rebooted and now the boot partition is no longer mounted. So it is very odd. I'll just monitor and see what happens. Good point about pi uptime.

                    • A couple of questions, before I do my first in situ upgrade.

I assume that anything backed up (i.e., listed in /opt/.filetool.lst) will survive the insitu upgrade, correct? Likewise, the modules installed via onboot.lst?

I'm running 7.0.1. Is it okay to upgrade straight to 8.1, or do I need to install 8.0 first?

Related: Is there a "release announcement" thread, or a github folder I can subscribe to, to learn of new releases without having to monitor the forum? Should I just periodically check https://repo.picoreplayer.org/insitu/ for changes? What I'm currently running calls itself 7.0.1 at the bottom of the web pages, but I don't see 7.0.1 upgrade files at that location -- which makes me wonder if upgrades can come from elsewhere, as well.

Many thanks! (And thanks, in general, for pCP. Fantastic project.)

                      • See "piCorePlayer Releases".

Although we test insitu-upgrades, its usually only from recent releases. Because of the hundreds of variables, there are no guarantees.

From time to time, we need to increase partition sizes or restructure some aspect of pCP, this can prevent insitu-upgrades working properly.

I'm unable to connect the PCP/LMS via wifi , "wifi information" shows "wifi IP- is missing" can someone please help me with this....

Initially I was planning to use it via Ethernet, so pcp was configured with WiFi turned “off”, not sure if I need to change any settings in the “tweaks” section.

                            • Everything you would need is on the wifi page. The wireless is working, since you are getting scan data. Try to connect to the SSID on the 2.4ghz channel

Not sure how complicated your wifi password is.....If you are not using standard ascii characters, there could be an issue. You could try this method of setting up wifi too.

Are you sure you have the SSID input correctly, in the list of available networks, it is fuzzy, but it looks like capital letters in GHz and lower case in the SSID part?
