I’m back again and I made it.
The tiny displays with ili9341 driver are now running under piCore 8.2. Made my custum overlay by editing an existing one and it works. Compiled it without errors.
It seems, when wiring the displays in the right way, the overlay lets run all ili9341 displays resolution 320x240.
If touch is needed, I use the according overlay (here ads 7846).
As the spotpear display is the same as the Waveshare displays with same driver, I suppose they work too.
Here is my question: Making the tutorial is no problem. But how will the users get the overlay?

Another problem: Using such displays with touch! PCP doesn’t provide a jivelite skin for that resolution. The qvga-skins are unusable for touch. I Installed the qvga-touchskin, but that occurs errors during backup (pcp bu).
Do you think it is possible to include qvga-touchskin in pcp repository?

I am a hands on person, because usually my first and second ideas are usually wrong and also I am bad at communicating my thoughts.

I was thinking we should proceed like this:

Publish your ili9341 project as is. Include your overlay source and a link to the compile process. This is a valuable exercise for people.

Start a thread for this project. There is not much visibility in the documentation thread. We need feedback from others.

The screen overlay/drivers situation with the Raspberry Pi is very messy, there are usually many solutions to the overlay/driver issues.

Paul needs to be involved to determine if there is a correct location somewhere for your compiled overlay.

Raphy is the best guy for jivelite questions.

Display 1 and 2 come twice - the first were too large

Looks great, and works. I did a check with a new pcp 8.2 installation, following the documentation step by step. After that, I installed an IR-reciever with this tutorial and added two rotaries with the correspondending documentation.

              Everything works fine.

                          Hopefully nobody notices.

I tried out PiCorePlayer, and I have to say, I like it! Really simplifies a lot of things. Also looking through this thread I've got all sorts of fun ideas now of things I want to try like adding a screen, IR, etc. I am curious though, if and when version 8.3.0 of LMS will be incorporated, or if it has already and I just didn't figure out how to do it?

Ok, I think I tried that, but didn't work. Will try again. Now that I know it should work, I'm sure I can figure it out, thanks!

                              - I guess I just wasn't patient enough, that worked. Thanks again!

Added a new "How to" to the piCorePlayer Documentation.

See "Add a WD Elements SE 4 TB hard disk drive".

The object of this “How To” was to grab a standard 4TB USB HDD from the Electronics store and determine what are the steps required to get it mounted on piCorePlayer. To date, I have only be using 1TB and 2TB USB drives which were formatted NTFS and used a MBR. My understanding is for HDD’s greater than 2TB, the MBR is replaced with a GPT. piCorePlayer being a minimalist distribution doesn’t include support for NTFS or GPT by default.
There is no directory creation, file copy or LMS setup instructions, just instructions to mount a NTFS formatted USB drive with a GPT.
