I think this tripped me up (was required) when building a 6.1 and I hadn't seen it required on 4.0. I found somewhere on this forum to enter "none" which is what I did. Sorry my memory is a bit fuzzy...

Note a typo picked up from another thread on a problem setting up Samba. In setting up Samba, the user followed the instructions and "cut and paste" items to be exact. The problem was using LMSfiles vs LMSFiles. In the section on mounting the USB drive the user typed it as /mnt/LMSfiles. (note the lower case f.) However, in the Samba Share Path it was entered as /mnt/LMSFiles (upper case F). The user copied and pasted from the instructions on the picoreplayer website. He said he he read the instructions above the Samba set-up screen and it says:
When this has completed, scroll down to the “Setup Samba Share” section and enter values for “Server Name”, piCoreLMS; “Share Name”, LMSfiles; “Share Path”, /mnt/LMSFiles; and “Create File Mode”, 0775; then click on “Set Samba”

He copied and pasted "/mnt/LMSFiles" from above and he did not notice the case difference from the USB entry. However, the picture does show the correct LMSfiles.

Bottom line, it would be useful to change the reference to "/mnt/LMSFiles" in the text to "/mnt/LMSfiles".

    Thanks wtnh,

Weird that I couldn't find a link to that old site.

I have added links on the new wifi pages (under More information) to the old list of USB wifi adapters.

    regards
    Greg

I tried to backtrack, but that was 3 or 4 repositories ago, and I got stuck at "google code" which is in "archive" mode but the piCorePlayer project doesn't seem to exist anymore. I couldn't find the right search criteria to use in the wayback machine.

Hopefully, someone may have a link or a copy.
Found it! It is still on the old piCorePlayer Google site:
Access Google Sites with a personal Google account or Google Workspace account (for business use).

There is also a list of USB DACs.

Perhaps it can be saved and put up on the new doc site?

Can we add WiFi dongle info?

Great to see the documentation site! This should really help newcomers and people like me who forgot how they got things working in the first place

I remember a list of WiFi USB dongles that were "known to work" with piCorePlayer. I think it was a Google Docs list to which users could add devices they got to work. It would be great if that list could be added (or linked) to the section on WiFi setup.

    Thanks for your feedback.

I have added a couple of issues on git:

Your requests are interesting for a couple of reasons:

    1) From my personal experience, you can use any RPi you want. So I don't have any recommendation. I used a RPi1B with 256MB memory for my LMS hardware for years!

    2) I don't use a NAS or mount network shares so I haven't documented it. There is a few instructions for SAMBA in the Add a USB hard drive and setup SAMBA How-to.

So your requests have highlighted that the documentation will have a bias towards the limited topics I know and use.

    Hi Greg

Would you consider including the attached for item 2? It is for a Synology NAS but I expect other NAS would be similar.
