We are ready to release a major update to piCorePlayer - so we decided to call i version 2.00 and start a new thread.
The old one is huge and has been read more than 700.000 times, therefore it is time for a new thread.
So thank you all for your continued interest and support.
The major changes are:
Only one version of piCorePlayer, but it can now run on all known raspberry boards. So you can use the same piCorePlayer image for all your players.
Support for LMS. So now piCorePlayer can be used both as a player but also as a LMS server (or both) from version 2.03.
Shairport-sync is supported and can be enabled from the "tweaks" page. It will automatically show on your iDevice (iPad or iPhone) with the name you have given your piCorePlayer. This means that you now can stream from your iDevices to piCorePlayer. It will automatically switch from squeezelite to shairport and vice versa. Just stop/pause either squeezelite or Shairport.
piCorePlayer menu applet inJivelite. This means that you will have a specific piCorePlayer menu in Jivelite. From here you can reboot and save eventual changes from within Jivelite. This menu is installed from your running LMS server. At the bottom of the Plugin page in LMS you will need to add piCorePlayer repro: http://picoreplayer.sourceforge.net/repo.xml Save.
Then you go to Jivelite on the piCorePlayer. Settings - Advanced - Applet installer - piCorePlayer menu - Install.
Next use the arrow in the top left corner to get to the main menu. Choose "quit" in the bottom of the screen (this will restart Jivelite - so the piCorePlayer menu is visible).
Go to Settings - choose piCorePlayer and select "Save settings to SD-card"
Kernel updated to 4.1.13 and piCore to version 7.0.
Because this version is so different from the others it is not possible to use the "In situ" upgrade/downgrade system to go down from version 2.00 to a previous version. If you for some reason want to use an older version you will have to download the previous version and burn it to your SD-card.
Please try it out. For this version Ralphy has been a tremendous help and he build the shairport-sync with all its dependencies. Kolossos made the piCorePlayer menu script and Paul made the LMS package that can run on piCorePlayer.
Now if you guys just add a Plex player to output over the HDMI port of the RPi, you will have created the perfect ultimate media box. <Joking, at least half.>
Installed and all fine with Pi2-IQaudioDAC+ with 7" touchscreen.
Many thanks and congratulations.
Incidentally, I'd been having power issues with a single power cable to this setup. I resolved this by finding a heavy duty 2 metre microUSB cable on Amazon, and picking up a three port USB power supply from Ikea (of all places). The USB power supply is I think rated at 3.4 A over all three outputs, 2.4A for a single output.

Is there anywhere where I can see the full log why it failed?

Very nice - works. Apart from the Shairport feature.
If I disable it (tweaks page), Shqirport is not shown on the Main Page,
but I gan still see the AirPlay point Lounge (the piCorePlayer) but not
play to it.
If I enable Shairport, I see it on the Main Page, but the dot is red and
it says "not running".
I see "Lounge" under the AirPlay points, but I also can't play via
airplay.
How can I debug what is happening?

A few ideas.
1. Have you rebooted after each change of the shairport settings. Enabled / disabled?
2. Could it be the name you have chosen. I haven't tested a name with empty space. Try a simple name like lounge.

OK - got it working. There seems to be a conflict between Shairport and
ShairTunes2 (on LMS) possibly because of naming of airport points? I
uninstalled the AirTunes2 plugin on the LMS and everything is working.
Thanks a lot.

Plex might be perfect, but making the AirPort for Videos as well (I
assume it is only sound right now - I don't have a screen connected)
would make me connect a screen to my pi.
But the major thing which I like about piCorePlayer is, that I can just
switch it off without worrying about proper shutting down (and the quick
boot!)- priceless.

As I said, it was a conflict with the ShairTunes2 plugin in LMS - no
idea why. But I never managed to get ShairTunes2 to work anyway - so no
loss for me.
piCorePlayer menu applet inJivelite.

Go to Settings - choose piCorePlayer and select "Save settings to SD-card"
Adding the repo, I got this error-message:
"Falsches Repository http://picoreplayer.sourceforge.net/repo.xml - Error reading headers: Server closed connection without sending any data back at /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/CPAN/Net/HTTP/Methods.pm line 306. ...propagated at /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/CPAN/Net/HTTP/NB.pm line 32."
LMS 7.9 is running on a Synology DS 114. Shairport can“t be activated (red dot).
Any ideas?
Otherwise des Version 2.0 is running properly. :-)

sourceforge seems to be down - can't acces some sites and also read it

Are you by any chance running the ShaiPort2 LMS plugin? Disabling it
solved the problem for me.
