    .deb on Debian Jessie

    Hi all,

With Jessie's release imminent, I was wondering if anyone here is using the
    ..deb packages under Jessie?

I'm still on 7.8 at the moment.

    Cheers

    Andy

Yes, I've installed logitechmediaserver_7.9.0~1428327734_all.deb on debian 8.0 just recently. No issue to report. It's a new machine so I haven't had time to stress LMS much yet.

Thanks for that, useful to know it should just work. I was primarily
interested in how the startup script works now that things have moved to
      systemd.

Don't really know much about systemd just yet, need to do some reading I
      think.

              Well,
maybe I can spare you the effort For a small server platform, I found systemd too cumbersome and wasteful of resources. Plus it is still not reliable, some services (like my watchdog...) just go poof with no good reason.
I installed systemv-init-core, added init=/lib/sysvinit/init to my default boot parameters and removed systemd.
Watchdog works. All works and boot orderly. Tabbed completion works since /etc/init.d/ is a directory... and memory / cpu usage is lower.

Another useless maximum effort campaign on the linux front, IMHO.

I also upgraded my ARM server to Jessie yesterday. I installed 7.9 as available here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nig...327734_all.deb Directory appears empty but you can still download the file. It includes the Perl modules for Perl 5.20, but only for armhf. armel is missing, so I compiled them myself. You can download them here: https://server.vijge.net/static/sque...i-64int.tar.gz Just extract this to /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch/5.20/ After that you can start LMS with "sudo /etc/init.d/logitechmediaserver start"
My patch: Reduce brightness when screen saver is active for Touch
                Plugins: SqueezeCloud (SoundCloud), Mixcloud

Thanks for posting this. I recently upgraded my trusty ol' Sheevaplug to Jessie and my LMS server died. This was just what I required.

Thank you! This was necessary to get 7.9 working on Jessie on my Sheevaplug.

Would you be ok if I included your binaries with LMS 7.9 nightlies? Or even better: could you please post a pull request to include these files?
