Here's how I do it:
cd /usr/sbin
rm squeezelite-armv5te
wget http://squeezelite.googlecode.com/fi...zelite-armv5te
chmod 755 squeezelite-armv5te
mv squeezelite squeezelite.old
mv squeezelite-armv5te squeezelite
reboot
If anything goes wrong you have your existing version left as squeezelite.oldLeave a comment:

Squeezelite Update for VAMP 0.4
Hi,
I am successfully running the 0.4 Vamp (versus 0.6) because it has the squeezeplug installer so easier to install samba and LMS but wondering what is the easiest way to update squeezelite to the latest version. Seems to work well so far.
ThanksLeave a comment:

Since the original instructions were lost with the Vortexbox website hack I tried to rewrite them best I could at http://www.homenetworkenabled.com/co...t-for-under-30 so that it can fill in the gaps for anyone building a VAMP.

I need to track down a usb dongle with one of the chipsets that has worked. Right now I'm considering this these:
Buy EDIMAX EW-7811Un 150 Mbps Wireless IEEE 802.11b/g/n Nano USB Adapter with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Once you know, you Newegg!

Just found this thread -- so, has any progress been made with getting wi-fi up and running yet? There's simply no way I could keep such a system hardwired to my router and hooked-up to my audio system at the same time.Leave a comment:

making it work on osx
I want to thank agillis and anyone else involved in getting this solution going.
I have successfully built it and it's a perfect add-on solution if you primarily use ipeng for your remote.
I don't know if it's been covered in previous posts in this thread but when using the vamp build instructions with a mac based system there are extra steps to make it all work.
here's a link to a macosx hint page with the key extra step.

I saw it only briefly mentioned in this forum, but Cubox has a Squeezebox player install. Has anyone used it? If you only need S/PDIF it seems perfect.
I was going to buy one anyway for XBMC, but might end up using it for this if it works well.

I saw in another thread here (the EDO one maybe?) that there is a driver available for the HiFace 1 on Linux now and somebody compiled it for the Touch.
If that's the case then this could possibly work on the Off-Ramp and other interfaces/DACs using that chipset. That would be good news.Leave a comment:

It's a real shame that the Empirical Audio Off Ramp 5 uses the HiFace (1) chipset for USB audio input, which is no good for Linux, as this would be pretty much perfect otherwise as it also offers LVDS I2S output which is really hard to find on other interfaces.Leave a comment:

I control my VAMP from either my iPad or my PC. I have no need for a local display and I hadn't used the one on my now dead Squeezebox for a LONG time.Leave a comment:

I haven't been following the custom hardware solution being dreamt up in the other thread so I don't know their current plans (are they calling it a wand board now?). I know the early discussions had people lobbying for a display and IR interface but if they've done away with those then it strikes me as a bit more pointless.Leave a comment:
