  • Error writing /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/jivelite.sh: No such file or directory

Trying to follow a guide for a screen.

    Instructions say
    • Save your changes and exit nano (Ctrl+X and confirm by pressing y).
When I do this, it says - File name to write : /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/jivelite.sh

I press enter and get the error in the title.

    What am I doing wrong?

It might be helpful to share the device and the operating system and a little more info on what you were trying to do.

It looks like you don't have write permissions to file jivelite.sh or to folder /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce. Can you provide a link to the guide that you are trying to follow?

Who is the owner of file /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/jivelite.sh? You can find out by typing "ls -al" from the ssh terminal. Or use WinSCP to browse through the piCorePlayer directory structure. WinSCP shows owner and access rights of every file and folder.

If owner is root, did you start nano as root (sudo nano /mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/jivelite.sh)?

I think he is creating the jivelite.sh in the tce directory which is owned by tc. We need to see the command he is using or as CJS suggest the instructions you are following.

Thanks for the help. This is the guide I'm trying to follow.

Feels like I'm missing an instruction here.

Can you confirm that you preceded "nano" with "sudo "?

I did. Trying again, I get an error "directory mnt/mmcb1k0p2/tce does not exist"

Is that because I'm writing a new file?

Thanks, I did copy and paste, just not back into the browser. Should I be pressing enter at this point?

                            The screenshot was from nano.

I'm going to follow the guide now and see if I can spot the problem.

Just tried it and it worked fine (I didn't follow all of the steps but I did install nano and create the file).

Please try the nano command again and if it does not work then copy the text (not a screenshot) from the terminal session and post it here.
