I presume you synchronise the two players to achieve the required effect.
Two comments:
1. It would make life much easier to use SB2's instead of SB3's. Their mainboards have the I/O sockets already in the same plane, so no need to move them. And their VFD displays are connected via ribbon cables and easy to relocate.
2. Of course you will be taking satisfaction from the project, but to get the end result, just buying a Transporter would be so much simpler!Until recently: Transporter -> ATC SCM100A, now sold :-(
