I know it is a pain but if you hit "Forward" in your email client does it then work i.e. are the links workable before you send anything?
I think there is an RFC about HTML email construction but I would have to look.
I missed this message at first, so I went back to try your suggestion, and something very strange happened. The links are now hyperlinks in both preview and the message body! I went back in my email and every previous message from the forum, even from yesyetrday, is now active hyperlink. So, it is "fixed"
Two possibilities on how it got fixed - Michael did something behind the scenes, or, when I took one message, changed view to plain text, then back, it changed something. It's the only thing that I did. Since old messages from yesterday are now "fixed" I would guess the latter.

mherger takes deserved credit for many things but I doubt this is one of them!
BTW did you know if you type @ followed by a user name this new forum tags the individual concerned?

I did notice that but am unsure of the implications other than a link to the member profile (notifications, etc). I'm taking baby steps in the new forum, I'll let others be the trailblazers!

When you quote someone in a reply the system notifies that person that you have replied. Using the @ tag additionally notifies the individual concerned. In my example you got notified because I replied to you but so did Michael because I tagged him.

In the "Boom" forum if I select the "Mark This Channel Read" it doesn't. Other forums on here it works fine.
Main system - Rock Solid with LMS 8.3.1 on WHS 2011 - 2 Duets ( both WiFi, farthest unit gets 60% signal strength and always works since new power supply) and Squeeseslave
Cabin system - Rock solid with LMS 8.3.1 on Win10 Pro - 1 RPi 3 Model B (WiFi) /Hifiberry DAC+ Pro/PiCorePlayer and Squeezeslave
Squeezebox Boom - "At Large" player around both home and cabin
Headphones and car - Android phone/Bluetooth w/full library on MicroSD card - PowerAmp music player app (similar to Material Skin)
In User Settings -> Account tab I've set "Posts per Page" to "Show 40 Posts Per Page". It would be nice if this also applied to the topic list. As it is now I think it shows 10 topics plus the "Sticky" posts at the top of the forum.

Understand, and I see that we can choose which types of activities generate notifications in user settings->notifications, so some can be turned off. I also assume we might want to use the @ if we want the members attention vs "as starti mentions above...".
The one thing I am a bit unclear on - are "Notifications" (Top Right) and email notifications triggered by the same activities selected in user settings->notifications? Or, are there differences? I ask because in the old forum I would subscribe to a thread and be notified via email only. But if I got a pm, I was notified both by email and the forum (top left). I ask because in this new forum I am getting allot more notifications than the old.
I imagine it's alot like windows where just about everything from every app ended up in the message center until you turned them all off
I found it was because I was “subscribed” to numerous threads for some reason. I didn’t knowingly do so as far as I recall.
in the previous forum there was a setting that auto subscribed you if you made a comment in the thread. Since you are quite active, you probably had that option enabled. It might have even been default?
I like that we have a lot more notification options, but it will take some getting used to, to find the ones that work for us.
I'm getting notifications (most recently in response to your posting). But I haven't seen any update to the RSS feeds...
As for the unread: the New Topics and Today's Posts links at the (almost) top should help with that. But yeah... I'm missing the mailing lists .
I'm sure we used to have a new posts link at the top? New Topics and Todays Posts seem to allow a new post on an old topic since my last visit to slip through the net

I notice that in Thunderbird today the links to the new post in a subscribed thread are proper hyperlinks rather than text (my TBird default view setting is "Original HTML").

Yes! And the notification for this (your) posting was the first one I received with the link .
Support told me how to customise those templates. Now that the POC has succeeded I'm going to edit some of the others, too.
