schoeppi After a few days with the new forum I believe the simplest for you would be to subscribe to all the RSS feeds. This would give you new topics. Then, when you're interested in a topic, you open the thread and click the "Subscribe" button. Thereafter you should get an email whenever there's a new message in a thread. You'd still have to come to the forum to write a message, but you could read in the email agent, and you'd get direct links to the corresponding posting.

Ok, I understand I am being sent away, but the rest of your message is how to make a table? Thanks, but not sure I follow? Does the thread exist? If not, and we make it, is there a way we can make it sticky? What forum would it be in? In fact, is this something that interests anyone?

A line of conversation in this thread has been how to cut and paste with android in the new forum which is not as straight forward as iphone. Maybe we got carried away, but I now have something that is much easier than the old forum for me and I thought I would share.

Huawei P20, Android 10, I copied this image from Wikipedia (long press, copy image) and pasted it here (long press, paste) , using Chrome.
Screenshots in Android are not put into the clipboard by default, but saved as images. I think it would be easier to just upload them in stead of trying to introduce yet another step in the process.
Thanks! This helped solve a few mysteries about the process. In general, Android is not very friendly to the clipboard, but obviously the capability is there. I have found that the Ultralight skin (https://forums.slimdevices.com/forum...-5-0-released= ) does allow the cover image to be copied to the clipboard from Chrome on Android 13, and then the image can be pasted into a forum post. It turns out to be a fairly simple process, after all. And if Craig gives Material the capability to copy to the clipboard, it will be much easier still.

100% agree. This new software opens some doors that were closed before - Cut & Paste being a big one. I'm a big fan of Greenshot as you may know.
I will kick off the Productivity Tools thread if you don't want to - let me know.
The table bit was more of an experiment but it did occur to me that to be valid the Productivity Tool list would need to be updateable so I was trying to see how easy it was to do and its easy.
As to Sticky. I think that is only in mherger 's gift. He did also say it was possible to close threads and thought we were able to do it but I can't see how.

I never can understand the difference between 'my profile' and 'user settings' but that problem has been with me for a long time...

I tried, and failed The clipboard API that I was using only works for HTTPS or localhost. My tests were with localhost, so just assumed it worked

Thanks for trying. We still have a fairly simple way to achieve this, it just requires manual installation of the Ultralight skin.

Redrum 's method of MyPhoneExplorer and Greenshot works well.

Yes, his method is probably the easiest way get an image into the forum.

I just found out that the Google keyboard GBoard can send screenshots straight to the clipboard. Still can't paste them into the forum though.

I gave this a bit of thought, and I think it would be a good idea. Using myself as an example, I am still using Media Monkey for tagging, and have not addressed reply gain yet.

One thing though - it would be really nice if the first post could be editable by all. Similar to the "announce" threads, where the author continues to update the first post with information as the plugin, etc changes through the thread. Paul Webster 's Radio Now Playing is a good example, of a constantly evolving first post. But we would want anyone that wants to add a tool, add it to that list.

The other option is a new forum category, say "tools" where each thread can be a different tool - Greenshot, etc

I wonder if this is possible. Since we mothballed the squeeze wiki, we don't want to go back

Glad you tried it. A bit off topic but this is my go to app for getting my photos off my phone and onto my PC, and backup. You can structure for the photos to be stored on the PC by date, so, auto organized. The app sets up the folder structure automatically.

Something that bothered me was that vbulletin state that pasting into posts is not supported but drag and drop is. When you drag and drop on a PC and drag the image file over the "upload attachments" are of the screen then the text changes to something like "drop objects here". So you don't drag and drop into the comment section. Despite that pasting into the comment section does appear to work. Of course grag and drop can't be used on Android.

If you are the original author you can Edit the first post in a thread and any subsequent posts where you are the author I think.

I don't think you can extend the edit permissions to all though.

On the Announce type threads the original author often posted 2 or 3 blank posts immediately after the first post to accommodate significant updates without modifying the original.

What I had in mind was a facilty where we started with a table and then when someone wanted to add they would copy and paste the table from the last post to a new post and add a line(s) - that way the latest post would always be the definitive list

Whole table copied from post RE: Cover art

                                One new line added
Name Description Windows Mac Linux Link
                                MP3Tag De facto tagging tool X X https://www.mp3tag.de/en/
                                Greenshot Screenshot tool X
                                This line added
Try by simply selecting the table above and copy, paste to a new post then select the table button to insert a line
