    Not exactly a straightforward process!
Robb, how did you get to this point? I went into a thread reply window, used "upload attachments" then files, to upload a screenshot. But when I did a preview post it did not show the image embedded, so I assume that the image would be as an attachment (like a log file)

Unrelated to the current discussion of pasting photos. I edited post 209 to correct a typo. Unfortunately, there is another typo in my explanation for that edit ("seems" was mangled into "send"). I cannot edit that explanation, and if I edit the post again, any new explanation I add does not appear.

The process was as I described in post 207. The only thing I can think of to add is that after the file uploaded, I had to click on the insert prompt:

That worked for me in Opera, and maybe that will work in other browsers. Following your lead I:
            • In the reply window, pressed upload attachment, my phone gave me three options - camera, camera video, and files.
            • I chose files, selected a photo (recents seemed to be at the top), the upload processed.
            • Once uploaded I clicked on insert thumbnail/small/medium/large
            • Image loaded into reply window.

I haven't posted but I imagine the attached image would also show in the post as an attachment. I tried "remove" but it took inserted image away from the preview

            Nice work Robb!

It's not as convenient as copy and paste though 😀

That's a shining example of the much-celebrated British penchant for understatement!

Isn't it exactly the same as the old forum though?

I tried the equivalent approach in the old forum software, but I found it didn't suit me. I like knowing which forum a post is in (without having to squint), and I habitually skip certain forums: Touch and Duet, because I've never owned either of those devices. And I approach DIY and System Photos with caution, since posts there usually remind me of my own ineptitude!

well, I haven't posted a photo in the new forum . In the old forum I did have to take a photo or screenshot, email it to myself, screen grab or open in greenshot, mark it up, save a temp to the desktop, select the file in the forum, then upload.....

...so, after looking at what I just wrote, it does seem like a ridiculous process...If the new forum allows a paste, I could skip a few steps

New Forum is much easier to post images if using PC or an iOS device but perhaps not any easier with an Android.

Screenshot from Material APK, cropped and uploaded to Google photos. Can't find a way to get the image into a post here, although it of possible to link to the image in Google photos.

I did manage to copy an image to the clipboard, but Chrome informed me it does not show pasting an image from the clipboard.

                            This is on Android 13.

Huawei P20, Android 10, I copied this image from Wikipedia (long press, copy image) and pasted it here (long press, paste) , using Chrome.
Screenshots in Android are not put into the clipboard by default, but saved as images. I think it would be easier to just upload them in stead of trying to introduce yet another step in the process.

I just received an email notification where I was mentioned in a post and there was no link to the post, just plain text. Every other notification I have received recently has contained a working link.

Yup, copy and paste of online images seems to work even in Chrome so I think when I copy my screenshot to the clipboard it is an image file rather than just an image.
