ok, I'll give it a try. I assume using the forum on a browser on my phone,

    Jim

edit - I tried and got stuck. I am not a phone/android power user. I took a screenshot of what is playing using the material apk. I could crop, modify, etc, but there was no "copy to clipboard" option, even in share options. I saved it in my photos, when to photos, and still could not find an option to clopy the image to the clipboard. There was a "copy image text" though...I'll look into trying to copy image to clipboard

Yes. It is also browser dependant. I found Chrome wouldn't work at all and Firefox looks like it works but then throws an error about the number of characters. The first difficulty is getting Android to copy an image to the clipboard. My Pixel doesn't offer it as an option.

The app I used (Copy to clipboard) has instructions to paste from the gboard keyboard.

I found this forum post which seems to address the issue. It talks about a plugin https://forum.vbulletin.com/forum/vb...ng-screenshots

It was a failed wordstar joke

I got to where I copied, but I use opera on my phone and is says it doesn't support pasting images here, or something like that

Chrome said the same so I tried Firefox and came up against the 10000 character issue.

I found a discussion for Opera where it was stated that it's a limitation to chromium on android, so edge, chrome, opera (and others) will have this issue. I am not familiar, but maybe there are non chromium browsers to try?

I have successfully pasted an image in the forum posting window with the safari browser (android). Now I am back to being stuck on how to copy an image to the clipboard. I find that I am able to long press on an image in a browser (e.g. one of jim's images of his turntable) which pulls up gboard keyboard and there is a clipboard icon, press and it copies. But from my photo or gallery app I cannot.

Maybe some progress, one hurdle left.

                      Edit:

Screenshot from Material APK, cropped and uploaded to Google photos. Can't find a way to get the image into a post here, although it of possible to link to the image in Google photos.

I did manage to copy an image to the clipboard, but Chrome informed me it does not show pasting an image from the clipboard.

                      This is on Android 13.

I’m told that in V13 post screenshot there is a preview option at bottom left in a circle. Open that then the 3 dots at right there is a Copy to Clipboard option.

Then it becomes about the browser

I think I am confused, and maybe I am trying to help solve something different than what is desired. I had assumed that slarti (and others) wanted to, say screenshot their material now playing, or take a photo, maybe crop, etc, then paste to a post in a reply window of our forum via an android browser. Is this right? Nobody is using or has tried the vbullitain app, right?

So, right now, here is where I am at-
Cannot get an image from phone or gallery to the clipboard (to be pasted)
Can copy an image from any browser, app, etc where the gboard keyboard is summoned. Example, in our forum, I can press and hold any previously posted photo
Can - once on the clipboard, I can paste an image from the clipboard into our forum's message reply area, but only using safari browser.

Jim, I took a look at what you are suggesting and I just didn't see it and don't think I am understanding...I know it doesn't help you if you don't actually have the hardware in your hand

However, that was a screenshot on my previous posting. Once the image is saved (optionally with some cropping or other editing}, the "upload attachments" dialog makes it easy to find the newly saved image:

                              Not exactly a straightforward process!

I installed an app called "Copy to clipboard" to enable copying in Android. I still couldn't paste to the forum though.
