One more device that you might add to your list: M5 AudioCast Receiver.
I have used this device with LMS and the Airplay Bridge plugin and found it satisfactory. I suspect it is no match for the Wiim mini, though. It would not be appropriate for audiophile applications, but it would work well with a portable speaker that has an aux input. An Android phone or tablet running the Material app could serve as a companion controller. Initial setup requires installing an app on a phone, iOS or Android.
Sound quality may be slightly better than connecting the headphone output (if available) of most phones or tablets directly to a portable speaker or using bluetooth, but my guess is that the difference is minor.

My planning ahead was acquiring 4 extra Touch Players, 4 extra radios (when Touch and Radios were super cheap when Logitech first announced discontinuing), and one new in box Transporter. Y'all are jumping to a slightly wrong conclusion. I did the same as you - I bought an extra Boom and two extra Touches some years back when they were available and the getting was good. Unfortunately now all are in service and I have no remaining unused spares.Comment
