My screenshots above are my fully working uPnPBridge settings. I can't recall if I ever tinkered with Common Paramters - I might have.

Yes it was "chicks" who said to get it to work with uPnP he had to switch off gapless - that would be a showstopper for many but I saw it on Amazon at a Black Friday price so took a punt.

First impressions are that it seems more stable on uPnP than with the Airplay bridge (which is odd).

It works on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz WiFi so has connected to my SSID at 5Ghz. The Dac32/Digi32 devices only had 2.4Ghz and I found them unstable with Qobuz HiRes. This seems OK on that front.

I have yet to use it's native service clients except a quick test on Qobuz but it is an impressive list.

Gave it a go with uPNPBridge. Worked straight away WITH gapless - playing DSOTM again

My simple mpd player on a Pi3B works perfectly with gapless although I could never get Moode or Volumio to work at the time.

I already had Phillipe's AirPlay bridge installed and the WiiM was found within a couple of seconds.
I shall use it in this mode as my background player all of today and report further but initial reaction on AirPlay (16/44.1 only) is good.

Phillipe’s AirplayBridge is relatively simple to use. His upnpbridge is not anywhere near as simple (nothing to do with his coding - just the fact that upnp as a protocol is crap).
I have taken delivery today of a Wiim Mini but not yet unboxed it. After I have I’ll let you know whether it is a real contender. chicks who recommended it today told me that it does work with the airplay bridge but that as far as the upnpbridge is concerned he had to disable gapless which for me is a no no.

    EDIT
You do get metadata and coverart inside the WiiM App if you set the AirPlaybridge accordingly but you only really need the WiiM App to set up if you are using exclusively with LMS.

I appreciate the Airplay caution. I took a quick look around and didn't immediately find any non-Airplay2 devices for sale online.

With the Wiim Mini, would the steps be as simple as plugging it in, downloading and activating in LMS the UPNP bridge?

Thanks for the help, this thread will remain an easily available reference for me when needed. Hopefully not too soon. ;-)

This has been on my mind on what I want to do for whole home music without a bunch of devices. I have a Touch on my main system. My plan is to get an Android tablet with SB Player and use a bunch of bluetooth speakers around the house connected to it. The only location I really care about audiophile quality is my main system. My other option is a Windows Surface with Squeezelite-X and bluetooth speakers.

I’ve connected my old Samsung Note to my DAC with USB using SB player. Audio quality is comparable to the Touch. Only issue with the Note is it can’t be connected to a power source 24/7 without the battery going back. Which leads to an Android tablet or the Innovato. I tried rpi4 picoreplayer to dac using usb and couldn’t get audio. Didn’t spend enough time debugging. Was really looking for plug n play solution.

    -I don't synchronize players
-It's not a question of fear or trepidation about putting together a little gizmo like a Raspberry Pi, it's that I have no interest in doing so. I'll configure LMS and add plugins as required but otherwise, I want no other tasks to do beyond putting a power cord into a wall socket and connecting audio cables.
-I have in mind a network audio receiver like a Touch, to connect to existing sound equipment if and when my Squeezebox devices die, but connectible powered speakers might be useful in addition.
-The Raspiaudio Muse Mn looks interesting, but I can't find it for sale anywhere.

In addition, or instead, it may be that the Airplay world might be a good direction to consider. It's an ecosystem I'm unfamiliar with but your comments have led me to consider Airplay enabled speakers or receiving devices like the Belkin Soundform Connect or something similar by Andover Audio. The same idea as the Raspiaudio Muse but using Airplay for the transport.

Any further ideas are welcome, I think I have a good starting point. Thanks again, there's such a wealth of knowledge and technical expertise to draw on with this system, that's what keeps me interested and connected as need be. Cheers!
WiiM Mini is super easy to set up, no need to speak geek at all. Simple as Sonos, but a lot cheaper. I use one via the LMS UPnP bridge, but its native app is quite good for all the music services, plus it supports Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Amazon AlexaCast and Airplay 2 in addition to UPnP. Their upcoming Pro model will add Chromecast support.

Take care with AirPlay just in case the device is AirPlay2 only - because the plugin is AirPlay1 only.

I have picked up a few old AirPlay devices over the years - generally 20-40 GBP each.
