  • Squeezebox claccic v3 doesn't start up.

One of my 3 squeezeboxes (actually the newest and least used) has been unused for about three moths but when I wanted to use it today it didn't start up properly.

I have tested it with the PSU from the other squeezeboxes and no difference there. I can see that the Toslink connector is shining red but the main display doesn't show anything. I have tested different remotes new batteries etc so it must be soemthing with that Squeezebox.
When I connect the headphones to it I can hear a quiet noice sound each 7 seconds or so so it sounds a bit that it's repeating the startup process?

Is there anything I can do or is it broken? The unit is about two years old (Logitech)and have been used for maximum 100hours. The other two units I have are about 4 years old (slimdevices) and have been running for 1000s of hours without a problem.

    1) Xilinx reset - hold down 1 on the remote while applying power...
    2) factory reset - hold down + (add) on the remote while applying power...
You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...

Try pressing the brightness button. This happened to me once for some reason the display set itself to off on it's own. Never happened again.

Does anyone have an idea of what can be wrong. It worked fine just 3 months ago and has spent its time on a shelf since then. No violence etc. Is it just for me to acceppt that it's dead or is it likely that I can open it up and find something easy like a button saying "push here to get me working again"

Maybe there is a reset button or similar. As it is right now I have nothing to lose so if no one have any idea how to fix this without opening it I will do that and see if I can find something.

You can try removing the wireless card. That's fixed this type of problem for some people. It's easy enough to do.

This fixed my problem. But now how to get the wireless card working again? And what's the reason for it to stop working?

I think you'll need a new wifi card. It has to be one that uses the Atheros AR2413 chip. There are threads on this site that suggest cards that use this chip.

As to why it stopped working...it broke

actually i opened up the box today and it lloks like there is a lot of sloppy soldering there. I tried to find the reason behind the problem andf then sudden ly when I turned the unit the display showed connecting to wireless network and then it was lost again. After trying to reproduce this a couple of times I could finally get through the whole starting process but then it was lost again. It seems like there is some kind of glitch or something.

Thats excactly the same I discovered in my SB classic too. I have same problem as the thread starter that the display is not working. I noticed that twisting gently the circuit board while power applied the display will light up and the Squeesebox will work as normal (including the WLAN). So it seems there is some cold solderings or other bad connections. I have to investigate it further and I'll report back what I find.
