    Remote "NowPlaying" Display

    You might need to connect as admin, then navigate up to the root level.

    Remote "NowPlaying" Display

    Hi Everybody

    I wanted to share with everyone my remote "NowPlaying" display. It is an html that you save on your SqueezeCenter or SqueezeBox server and point a remote PC web browser to. I originally posted this back in late 2008 on another forum when I first started developing it but I have since updated the html.

    I use it in my family room to show what's being played on my SqueezeBox 3. I bought a small PC to use as the remote PC which is hidden behind a speaker grille, which also houses my subwoofers. Visit my website at http://billandjeri.homeip.net/galler...t.aspx?aid=316

    To install, make sure you follow the included README file. Hope you enjoy it! I want to thank Michael Herger for his assistance with the squeezeJS code. The HTML credits others as well.

        Neat. I've hacked it around a bit to make it look OK on a normal PC screen without scrolling and to set the correct timezone.

        Any way of getting the Sample rate & bit depth back as variables?

        You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...

          I'm glad you like it. Obviously, my code is optimized for a wide screen TV :-)

          Yes, I actually plan some big updates to include more info as well as artist biography. But, I'm not a programmer so it is taking me some time to study and learn the SqueeseJS code enough to understand how to build that functionality.

            Thanks for posting this. I remember when you posted the first version a while back and I thought it was a great idea. Glad to see it updated.

              DirecTV has a new "gadget" sidebar application thingy now - I haven't looked at the programming model or API for that but it would be kind of neat to do something like this for that...

                Linux file location?

                This looks like a great idea, I've been using the web interface or Moose to display on my TV, but all I want is a Now Playing screen.

                I'm running SBS on Ubuntu - anyone know where I should put the HTML file? The instructions are only for Windows.

                    Ok, I managed to find where to put the file (/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/HTML/EN/html/squeezJS/), but it's not working for me. The instructions say it is optimised for IE so I'm not sure if it's not working because a) I'm using Ubuntu not Windows, b)I'm using Firefox not IE, c) I've done something wrong.
                    It's a pity because I like the idea.

                      I use Firefox on a Mac and PC and it's not an issue. Check your path. SqueezeJS has an "e" after the z and "S" is capitalized.

                      i.e. this is the URL I use to hit it.

                        You're right, it was c). The path was right, but I forgot the capitalisation of SqueezeJS in the URL.

                          I'm running Squeezebox Server 7.4.2 on a Windows XP computer.

                          I placed the nowplaying.html file in
                          C:\Program Files\squeezebox\server\HTML\EN\html\SqueezeJS

                          I access the "now playing" web page at
                          http://192.168.2.199:9000/html/SqueezeJS/nowplaying.html

                          Of course, replace the IP address with your own. Like others, I tweaked the CSS to scale things down a bit for my 1280 by 1024 display.

                            Thank you starfleetcommand, this looks great. I can't wait to get home and try it out. I too am happy to control the music via iphone or remote control but I was looking for a display only solution. well done!
