Try changing it in pCP itself - rather than LMS.
pCP Web interface/Squeezelite/Name of your playerPaul Webster

and, via the extra "Radio Now Playing" plugin lots more - see https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...Playing-plugin

Backup on Pcp main page.
But after a restart the player name is again piCorePlayer.
How to store it ?
Thanks
As per Mr Webster, one can change it Squeezelite tab settings and I also change it in the Tweaks tab settings

pCP will override what is in LMS. Change it on the pCP interface. On the Squeezelite page.
The setting on the Tweaks page is to change the linux Hostname of the device, which has nothing to do with squeezelite/lms.piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM.

Please donate if you like the piCorePlayer

Off topic slightly
If I look on MySB.com at my "players" it seems I have over 20 odd instances of piCorePlayer ! Obviously I have renamed them all but the name seems to hang around forever - not that it really matters.
An improvement in this area would be for the default Squeezelite instance on a new pCP to be based on the device's Mac Address in some way - again not that it really matters if you have some experience of the ecosystem. Just a thought.Jim

I remember reading somewhere that pCP setting changes are not saved unless you back-up the settings.
This will do a piCore backup to your SD card.
piCorePlayer does a backup after it changes any setting, so this option is really just for "peace of mind" before doing a shutdown or reboot.
I think this change somewhere along the version trail?
