Moode vs Squeezelite

Another thread piqued my interest in Moode Audio for the Raspberry Pi. Since I had a spare micro SD card I thought I would try it out. Now I have a problem. I have a sneaking suspicion that MPD in Moode sounds better than Squeezelite. I have no idea how this could be true and I don't want it to be true. Has anyone else compared them? I hoped @Archimago might have tested both but it appears not.

I will agree that there is a difference

I have dallied with MoOde over a number of years and just this weekend I have started to set up a playback system as an internet radio.

It's a faff to upgrade the urls for Radio France and the metadata is pants (I think this is a MPD thing)

Radio Paradise sounds really nice

It might sound “better” in a sense that better can mean a lot of different things to different people . A bit of signal processing and some equalization or even non linear transformation…

That is what I can't be sure of. As far as I can tell all processing is turned off but how can I be sure. That is where Archimago comes in [emoji3]

I have the same settings. Did you switch between MPD and Squeezelite in Moode? There must be a measurable reason for the sound difference.

No, it was just a quick attempt to find some info

The squeezelite was LMS output to a SBRadio

It was too late at night.

I might try later in the day if I feel like it

Connect MoOde via the upnp/DLNA bridge and all the interface and metadata issues disappear [emoji3]

It just means that f(ax1+bx2) != af(x1) + bf(x2) if f is the transformation
