    Thank God

I have my eyes set on a WP7 device in the future. I'm so glad someone decided to give WP7 some love with a SB player.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

BTW, do you have screenshots or anything? The link you provided says that I need to install the zune software.

got a nice surprise when I searched for Spotify in the marketplace and found two apps for Squeezebox. I've installed and paid for both (Squeeze Remote, and Squeeze Controller)so that I can play around with both and see which one works best.

Well done on Squeeze Remote, great first release and it's a very useful app. Not sure the user interface is as it could be, but maybe that's just me getting used to it. I do look forward to playing around with it more.

One specific thing that was a little tricky for me was the volume control bar: I found the bar a little bit narrow to be trying to drag up or down with my finger, though I may be doing it wrong.

Anyways, well done again, I look forward to playing with this app some more and hope to see it keep evolving into something even better!

        Thanks for the input!

Regarding the volume slider, if you tap the top or bottom of the slider, the volume is increased/decreased by 5.

If you have any ideas of improvements, post it here or send me an email and I'll try to implement it.

A new version is currently at Microsoft for testing. It will have a new startscreen layout and browse by Folders is added. Otherwise it's mostly performance improvements.

          suggested improvements

          Hi,

Im waiting for my windows 7 phone to arrive, currently using a win 6.5 rom'd touch pro 2 as a squeeze box remote controller

The really big ommission of the current controller s/w i'm using is the complete inability to do any form of "on the fly" playlist creation (and adding currently playing or selected tracks) .. I know sbs is very weak in this area but maybe thats an opportunity to make the client even more indespensible

The huge huge superb feature of the current win 6.5 client im using is its ability to pull up automatically (in coverflow style) all other albums by the artists and when you click on their albums give the track listing so you can quickly skip to tracks on other artists albums :-)

Where this comes in super useful is when you have various artist compilations when playing an artist you get all the other artists albums popping up .. super super super useful

I think the thing to have in mind is managing large album collections which is a big weakness for these phone sbs clients ... in the one i'm using the developer in its latest version has taken away the artist name from the album view which makes it pretty useless for large album collections unless your a mind reader ... its still a great program and i use the iplayer function a hell of a lot for bbc radio

the one im using is SLIMCONTROL

check it out .. you might be able to crib some good ideas from it ;-)

if you can develop one to approach the good aspects of slimcontrol's functionality and it has the speed to handle large collections i will give it a spin

Thanks for the ideas, especially the coverflow/artist part.
Regarding large collections, i consider my self to have quite a large one(~1400 albums), and application starts in roughly 4 seconds with all data loaded(first startup is a lot longer though ).
Just give it a go, trialmode is enabled, so it won't cost you anything.

Music download for offline listening(mp3 player)

                  Hi,

one feature I love an my wifes Android phone using Squeeze Commander is the dowload feature for offline listening (aka using the phone as mp3 player).

Will it be possible to implement something like that?

I know that the security model of wp7 is different, meaning that you do not have a shared filesystem. But I read that the multimedia functionality can be used from any app, so it should be possible somehow.

In the current version of Windows Phone this is not possible, developers don't have access to the media library except for photos. Hopefully this will change with v7.5. If so, that feature will be added as soon as possible.

By the way, Squeeze Remote v1.13 will be available on the Marketplace within 24 hours. It has a major remake of the NowPlaying screen and works like the ZunePlayer in Windows Phone. (Drag Albumart Left/right to change track) also has some performance improvements.

I purchased it, great job!! Question, I've never setup a Lyrics plug-in, is one needed to get lyrics in your app? If so, which one do you use??

Can you use a dynamic DNS address for SBS with this app?

There is no need for a plugin. For the moment the lyrics are quite unstable since I haven't found a good lyrics api yet. Currently using lyrics.com and it's not as stable as I want it to be. I'M currently looking for a better solution.

That should work just fine. Just download the trial from marketplace and give it a go. The trial has full functionality but can only be started 10 times.
