Feature Request: Sorting plugin for playlist

Currently there is no such function in LMS and I'd like to request for it. For those coding gurus, please help develop plugins to sort playlist by name, title, track, date, year, artist.... Thank you very much in advance.

If you want to reorder tracks of saved/static playlists... I have an unreleased plugin called Potpourri where I sometimes dump features too small for a standalone plugin. I've added some reordering sort options to the ones I had. Change Playlist Track Order is available from the playlist's context menu.

It's not what I really want for sorting. I would like to sort the current queue playlist, not saved playlists. When I play an album, I don't make a playlist first. BTW, I tried Potpourri and it's buggy. Every time I used it to sort a playlist, the server showed Fail message although it did the job.

While I adore users with high standards who appreciate my work... 2 status message strings were switched - that makes the entire plugin “buggy“?
        Anyway, good luck.

It might help if you told us what type of playlist you want to sort and why.

I am sorry. "Failed to save play queue!" message was not from your Plugin but from LMS when I was saving a playlist. My apologies.

There are some classical music albums in which the works are not in chronicle order. For example, track 1 concerto no.2, track 2 concerto no.4, track 3 concerto no.1, track 4 concerto no.3.....

You can drag them into any position you like in the queue with Material skin.

                  Thanks for letting me know.

Yes, I just tried, but it is still not as good as sorting.

Somehow I feel dragging is more complex than sorting in coding. Yet I am just a stupid user and I appreciate all developers' hard work.

Are you saying you have albums where the works are not in correct order? Is it not a case of correcting the tags so that the works are grouped together and in the right order? Am I understanding the issue correctly?

No. Some albums come with non chronicle order tracks when issued. When you rip the CD's, the tracks are not in order.

You could tag them so they do appear in the order you require. There must be a reason for the original order on the CD though.

Certainly, however I would not raise this feature request if I wanted to go this path.

My curiosity has been piqued! Can you give an example of an album that has tracks like this?
