[Announce] Spotty 2.8.x - SpotifyConnect for your Squeezebox

Would spotty complain about the lack of credentials? Or do you routinely
do it because you think it does any good? Why would you think you'd have
to do this?

I don't know, really. I just fail to build for this platform at the
moment. But it should still work with the legacy helper plugin. Did you
install that?

> Some other issues with shairplay no doubt.
Your devices seem to disappear all the time. Spotty then needs to
restart its deamons, too.
Then there's some network hiccup (I guess) where a bunch of players
disappeared and Spotty failed to get a token from the backend servers.
And please uninstall the SpotifyProtocolHelper plugin.
Other than that there's not much about Spotty going on. You mentioned
that your credentials did go away. But there's no sign of
re-authentication in there. What exactly are you experiencing?

Do you mean Spotify Protocol Handler plugin? I can remove that. I thought it was needed for SB Classic.
I don't think I have Spotify Protocol Helper installed looking at the plugins screen.
The symptoms are I try to Spotify connect to my squeezebox devices. The squeezebox devices don't show in my Mac or Android Spotify clients.
I then login to the LMS Spotify plug-in settings page to see no settings, just the authenticate screen requesting username and password. I input both and it logins in, I now have access to the Spotty settings screen.
Then restarting the Mac or Android Spotify clients now shows my squeezebox devices as connect devices.Last edited by atca; 2019-05-04, 14:38.Comment

That's a legacy thing. It was necessary when there still was official
Spotify support for the SB Radio/Touch, but not Classic. But about two
years ago Spotify turned off that support, too. The SPH plugin became
obsolete.

Hmm... that's really odd. Did this happen during the time you sent me
the server.log for? Because I didn't see any sign of this.

Does the server clear the log every time the service is restarted?
I've restarted the service a number of times in the last few days, working on integration with HASS.Comment

"Daily mixes etc"
I was about to give up on my Squeezebox Radio, but have never been able to find a device better suited for my girlfriend who just wants to push preset buttons or select her Spotify playlists using the menus on SB.
I also wanted to ask a question: Spotty should now support the dynamic playlists. Can anyone tell me how I get access to "Daily mix" on my SB Radio? The menus just shows albums, (regular) playlists and artists, even though I have upgraded the Spotty plugin to 2.8.1.Comment

That said: it seems that Spotify has changed that feature again, and I'm not sure it's still working as it was supposed to work when I wrote the announcement. Somebody recently mentioned it now was a static playlist, rather than a dynamic one - something I cannot confirm.Michael

Thanks for the great plugin mherger!
Just a quick question. I read that Spotify Connect can now be used with without a premium account, but it requires the latest version of the SDK. (I cant post links yet but you can find it on Google. "spotify-connect-free-tier-ad-supported-premium" from The Verge for example)
I have the latest version of the plugin installed but in the Spotify app itself it shows I can only Connect to my players with a premium account.
Does your plugin support Connect for free accounts?
Thanks

Slow reaction time on spotify connect
Hi,
I have :
piCorePlayer v4.1.0
linux 4.14.81-pcpCore_v7
piCore v9.2pCP
Squeezelite v1.9.0-1121-pCP,
Logitech Media Server Version : 7.9.2 - 1556796842 @ Thu May 2 13:52:28 CEST 2019
I use helper /usr/local/slimserver/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/SpottyARMLegacyBin/Bin/spotty-muslhf (v0.12.2) but tried the regular one
I've disabled ogg to keep only pcm
When my laptop or mobile is streaming spotify to my piCoreplayer through Spotify Connect, if I want to change songs, ajust volume or anything, I sometimes get up to 30 seconds delay between the moment I clicked and the effect.
Any idea ?Comment

Did you modify the squeezelite buffer in pCP?

No.
Please use the default Spotty helper.
What kind of player are you using? Where is your LMS running? What kind
of Pi are you using for the LMS machine (if that's the case)?
