Feature request: Play from here
Apologies if this has been covered before.
Would it be possible to add an extra item to the album track kebab drop down menu for 'Play from here'. This would allow an album to be played from the selected track onwards? e.g. you wish to play from track 5 to the end of the album so tracks 5 to <last track n> are added to the queue.
I realise you can manually append all the individual tracks to the playlist but this requires multiple key presses.
Thanks for this brilliant plugin!

Ah, thanks. I did not see this because that menu option (Play album starting at track) does not appear in Music Folder mode of browsing - which I always use!
Is there a reason why its not there?Last edited by humax99; 2022-12-17, 13:44.Comment

I think browsing using Music Folder sorts tracks alphabetically by filename which may not correspond to track order (depending on how the files are named), so maybe that option would not always work well.

All the music titles I have seen normally include the track number (mostly at the start or after common text) in the title so the natural order of the album is presented in a file browser and, therefore, would correspond to the correct track order. I have never seen an issue in the display of albums in my LMS library using Music Folder mode.Comment

Perhaps LMS considers them to files and not an album so certain menu options are not available.Paul Webster

Yes, true. I have been caught out with that before! I find it easier to check the track numbering than it is to correct the metadata. My library needs a good sort out of the metadata to align all the inconsistent punctuations, artist name formats, etc. This is the main reason I use Music Folder browsing as I have at least been careful to organise all the folders.Comment

My guess -- and that's all it is! -- is that when browsing through Music Folder, LMS is only showing FILES (as both Bob and Paul have suggested), not SONGS. In that mode, LMS may not have access to metadata, so it does not know if the files in a folder are part of an album or just a random collection. If Craig were to decide to add this option to Material, it would probably need to be more like "Play folder starting with this file." That would work sometimes to play the rest of the album, but sometimes would result in unwanted behavior.Comment

Yes, as I rip to a single WAV file per album browsing through Music Folder is next to useless, it only shows the single cue and wav FILE. I have always thought to power of LMS was the database it generates. If you only want to browse through the Music Folder there are much simpler audio solutions available that don't have the database overhead.
By the way, Greg, you are probably aware that the Music Folder view lets you open the cue file, just like a folder, and select individual tracks. But I wanted to be sure others reading this know that, which is my reason for mentioning it here.Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual players. Documentation on Filename to Tag, a converter to import tags from file and folder names. Mp3tag is the universal Tag Editor.
You can select an entire directory and populate the metadata in one pass.Comment
