Thank you. This seems very logical indeed. I keep changing round MS and Squeezelite-X and the LMS Android wrapper, I am perfectly aware of the difference!

      • Text files from music folder not accessible

When I select the "More" option for a track, Material displays in the Browse pane a page that's almost identical to the default interface's Song Info page. Lately I find that the "Text files from music folder" option does not work. It still works in the default and Classic interfaces. The filenames are displayed, but they are not clickable. Is this a bug in recent versions of Material, or have I configured something wrong? Is it working for others?
Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual players. Occasionally using SB Radio, Boom or Classic.

Same for me. The text files aren't clickable.

I was about to say, it works for me. But then I checked with 2.10.1 and its broken there, but fixed in git for 2.10.2 (which is why it works for me).
Material debug: 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json (Use http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json,cometd to also see update messages, e.g. play queue) 2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open console tab in developer tools 4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS will be logged here.

              • Redesign Proposal

I think I'm about to start something akin to a religious war - my apologies in advance. (I'm not sure if anyone has requested this already - I haven't read through all the hundreds of posts.)

I'll start with saying that I love the Material Skin - I use it everywhere and it's a huge improvement over the original web interface - it's really increased my appreciation of the platform and the work that everyone contributes to make this ecosystem better every year.

What I'd like to propose is moving the Prev-Play/Pause-Next buttons to the top of the screen - that puts those navigation buttons closer to the volume slider and all other controls. While it's not a huge deal when using Material on my phone or medium-sized iPad, it would make things significantly easier when using it on my computer with a mouse. It doesn't really make sense to have just those three buttons at the bottom of the screen and everything else up top.

I mocked something up as a first attempt where I moved everything including the song currently playing info at the bottom of the screen, but I'll be honest I don't really like it. I think a better option would be to move just Prev - Play/Pause - Next up top and leave the rest of the info at the bottom of the screen. Maybe another option is to put it next to the Music Sources or Player list?

                As always, appreciate feedback/suggestions/flames.

EDIT: I removed the image as I agree it wasn't the prettiest, and focusing on the picture ignores the point of my post - the Prev-Play/Pause-Next are the only buttons at the bottom of the screen when in desktop mode. Can someone who's a better graphic designer mock-up some possibilities that move these controls up to the top of the screen where the rest of the buttons are? It's a usability issue.

Seems reasonable to me, but my opinion doesn't count. It might also be an opportunity to add a mute button to the Windows skin. (If there's already one there, someone please let me know where it is.)

In desktop layout, long-press on the volume label. The 'Help' menu item lists all long-press features, as I realised these were slightly hidden.

It most certainly is not. And Material is not the only music player to have controls in such a position; from a google images search Spotify, Deezer, and Tidal have the controls there.

                          • I'm happy with the controls at the bottom.

The only issue I have - I've just updated my phone and tablet (Samsung) these don't have seperate screen / app controls (unlike the old phone) and to get to them you need to swipe up from the bottom if I'm not careful doing this can move the playing position in the track which can be a bit annoying.

Try going into server settings for Material Skin plugin and changing to "standalone" mode for Webapp display.Click image for larger version

I don't have any tablet (well had a second hand Nexus7, but never really used), but my Android phone uses the same navigation and I have no issues - personal experience I know. If using the APK you can set the navigation to "blended" - then the space for the "-------" bar should be reserved and the controls moved up.

However, I'll see if I can do anything to prevent accidental swipes. This used to be an issue with the bottom tabs in the mobile layout.
