Just need album art and artist info. No controls or menu.
Craig said that as minimum the Player menu is NEEDED so it makes sense for him to use the existing extended Now Playing display as it is - including the controls - but make it possible for Material to launch directly into that mode. It doesn't really matter that the controls are there does it ?

      • Add now-playing only view

Craig, I tried out your commit on July 16th, "Add now-playing only view". I noticed the "Expand now playing" button within the desktop view no longer works.

I continue to admire your work. If I may, I'd like to propose a teeny-tiny cosmetic change: The Play button in the mobile view on the playing tab. It has a circle around it, unless you have enabled the stop button, then it does not have the circle around it. I propose not having a circle around it in all cases. The "Playing" icon below has a circle around it so when the Play button has a circle, we have two things with the same icon. Here are some pictures to show what I mean.

[edit:] Clarification, by all cases, I mean the play button in the desktop and mini-play layouts as well (for consistency).

Oops! Was a silly typo, fixed now. Thanks.

I can see, and agree with, the point you are making. However, I like the circle around the play button - I like it looking more prominent. I'll give this some thought....

I tried this, but as you can see from your screenshot, without the circle around the play button it does not look centerally aligned. The icon is correct, just because its a triangle it extends more to the right than the left. Making it look unbalanced with the play in the circle below. Perhaps, I should use an alternative icon for the now-playing tab. Maybre use the music note (currently for browse) for now-playing, and use library_music for browse?

I'm not 100% sure about using "library_music" (for browse) - to me it looks "heavier" than the others.

I think that makes more sense and looks better balanced to me.

I agree. The dual circle "play" icons has occasionally tripped me up, even though I use the skin all the time.

I like the changes to the bottom row icons. That will fix the issue with having duplicate circle icons. I used to prefer the circle icon myself, but having two of them there motivated me to try removing the circle icon on the play button. Then I got used to liking it without the circle. Anyway, you have solved the duplicate circle icon issue, thank you.

You are doing amazing work with Material Skin and we are all grateful for your efforts.

                          • I am not expecting this change but it would be nice if it is possible. In Classic Interface I can organize my Favorites by folders that I name and I am able to drop tracks into the folder by clicking on the X next to the track in the Favorite and the open the folder I want it in and click paste. It is not a big deal just switching interfaces temorarily to do this and then going back into Material once it is done.

Already in Material's github issue tracker - see https://github.com/CDrummond/lms-material/issues/65 Not implemented yet, as not a major issue for me. But is something I plan on supporting.
