[Announce] Squeezelite-X

Thanks for posting this. I'm not sure why squeezelite even listed mono devices as it fails to open the device requesting the required minimum of stereo.

I've changed -l to only display devices with more than 1 channel from version 1.9.4-1182.

There's a new windows build which also includes another fix for spotty ogg/vorbis tracks still skipping on occasion and native support for opus decoding.

I saw changes in 1.9.4-1182 yesterday, and will include in next build of SLX. BTW, what happens if the Default device happens to be mono?

With the latest version, I can use the mouse's back button to go to a blank white screen. The forward button reloads SLX's screen.

I had to find a mouse with back forward buttons, but yes they will cause the browser to go forward and back. I do not want it going all the way back to "about:blank", so I will address this in next release.

I've just returned to the LMS/Squeezebox system and TBH in struggling to remember why I kind of stopped using mine (I was seduced by the ease of streaming to Chromecast Audios using Google play music and gradually used LMS less and less)

Anyway I have to say Squeezelite-X is awesome. I'm very impressed. I always had Squeezeplay for Windows as an extra player on my PC, either for local playback or controlling other SB devices but so far SLX is so much better.

I also realise it's possible because of others too (Squeezelite itself and of course the material skin) so they also get my thanks too.

Hi, I haven't been around for quite a while, but I just wanted to thank you for this really nice app.

I'm kind of trying an alternate LMS setup on a Synology NAS lately, so came back here to randomly browse through new topics, and just stumbled upon this.

Great job, and really glad to see there's still so much going on in this community.

I have a new issue that I believe started with one of the latest builds: Sometimes SLX fails to load the LMS interface. I just get a black screen with this whirly circle thing in the center. The tray icon alternates between blue and grey. When I click on the settings button the setting screen opens and I can "Stop" something, as the button at the bottom says "Stop".

Maybe for whatever reason SLX cannot connect to the server? However, SLX's squeezelite instance can, and I can start playback using iPeng.

I just clicked that "Stop" and then "Apply", now it's all black without that whirly thing. Killing the process tree and restarting SLX helps, of course.

I'm sorry for always pestering you with this and that. But that means, I care. Thank you!

Probably nothing. Probably a bug of some type. Are you installing from the Microsoft Store or the legacy installer? Sounds like it is failing somewhere with the Windows Registry. I'll take a look at what code I have that could cause that error.

I tried installing again on a new Windows 10 laptop and again get the "cannot create key" error. Others obviously don't see this issue so how are they installing it?

I think that's why Greg asked, how YOU installed it. I use the Microsoft Store.

Hi Greg, is there a way to define a default player in Squeezelite-X?
Every time I reboot my PC, it defaults to the local PC player. Everytime I launch it (bring it up from the taskbar) it defaults to the last used player.
I'd like to be able to define a default player that it will revert to automatically after a certain amount of idle or inactivity time (and after rebooot).

As it is now, every morning when I press play from my kitchen, it starts playing in my bedroom (where my wife is still asleep) cause that's where we played last night.
That doesn't make her happy!

Version 2.4.3

I submitted 2.4.3 to the store.

Changes:

• Includes update to Squeezelite player (version 1.9.4-1182). The new version eliminates a squeezelite crash having to do with mono-devices. Now squeezelite will only allow you to select a device with > 1 channels.
• Changes the way SLX populate the list of output devices to select from. SLX now uses the Port Audio library like squeezelite does.
• Update Chromium library to version 76.1.9.0.
• Inhibit GoBack, GoForward (via Mouse) in SLX browser.
• Player defaults to built-in Squeezelite player if enabled, otherwise defaults to last selected player (if available).
• Minor GUI touchups.

I did see this once myself, but it is so rare, I have not been able to reproduce it. How often is this happening to you?
