  • Something else - Because of the problem with the SLX icon not appearing in the system tray (yes I know I can drag it there when hidden) for the past few months I've pinned SLX to the Task Bar which has worked fine for me.

However recently, clicking on the icon does not open the SLX window when closed to the Task Bar. It works fine when minimized to the Task Bar, but doesn't work when closed to the Task Bar.

    • I just installed SLX on both my computer and my wife's and wow what a lovely thing. I do have one configuration question I need help with, though.

My wife and I have separate Spotify premium accounts. When I installed SFX on her machine - even though SHE was logged in to her Spotify account on that machine - SFX seems to have latched on to my Spotify account. Does SFX allow different players to use different Spotify accounts when they are connected to the same LMS? If so, how do I change the configuration on one of the players?

I am running LMS from a fresh install of piCorePlayer if that matters.

Thank you very much for this work and your counsel.

      • OMG - I figured it out. Had to add the other account(s) to the LMS and then the Account option in Spotify allowed me to switch between them. Sorry for anybody who spent time on this.

Yah, this has been discussed in this thread before, Windows never deletes those things even for old apps that have been uninstalled. I can't recall the fix but I think I discussed it here a while back. There is a way to remove them. I think in the case of SLX, you might get this situation when you have installed the Store version and the legacy installer version. Where are you seeing the entries? Is it in Windows Settings "Select Which Icons Appear on the Taskbar?" In any case, I never use that Settings Screen. I move the icon from the hidden area of the notification area to the visible area of the notification area by dragging it. it should survive a reboot, but reverts to the hidden area by default after an update from the store. Although you are seeing two notification icon entries, the entries are not associated with players exactly, rather the executable it belongs to. Not sure why the tutorial you followed did not fix it, but I do recall it being a bit tricky to fix. As I recall, I failed on my first attempt at fixing it, but I don't recall the specifics. Oddly, on my dev machine I run all versions 64-bit/ 32-bit, Store package, regular installer, and from the dev environment. I should get this problem all the time, but it has never come up again since I successfully fixed it a year or two ago. So, I can't really say I understand how it happens.
Sorry for not being clearer. Yes, I am using the "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" functionality. I will try your approach (dragging and dropping). The tutorial completely wipes the cache related to those icons. When I rebooted all the icons were set as not visible and I had to manually select (through the aforementioned functionality) which one I wanted to unhide to appear on the taskbar.

I don't know if there's an easy answer to this but... do you reckon there's a way to check for Store installation? Maybe I could try cleaning the registry from entries related to that, as an experiment.

I can reproduce this if "Run in Background" is enabled. Clicking on taskbar/start menu icon does nothing. I caused this in .56 when a list of user-defined windows messages got renumbered in one file, but not another. I'll have a fix in a few minutes.

              • Version 2.11.57

I just pushed version 2.11.57 to the OneDrive location and submitted to the MS Store (as always, might take a day or two to get through Store Certification and show up in the store).

                Changes:
                • Fix failure to invoke SLX when already running in background from start menu or pinned taskbar icon

                    • Okay, reinstalling the material plugin was the solution. I was confused because on my iPad it worked as before.

                      Obsolete:

Hi. I had some problems with my LMS (ramdisk with cache was full etc.) and I cleared the cache folder. Now everything seems to be ok but Squeezlite-X gives me an error:

                      404 Not Found:
There is no "material" skin, try http://192.168.8.108:9000 instead.

The player is working, I can control SLX from other clients. The default skin is also working withing SLX. Clear cache in SLX did not help. What else can I do?

                      Update:
Okay, this could be not SLX related, maybe it has somethin to do with the material skin itself. Strange - from my homescreen link on my iPad material skin works fine. But if I start it via browser on any device I got error 404.

                        • Simple question: is there anything similar to this software for a Linux desktop environment? I've installed squeezelite as a service and created a webapp for material skin browing but it's not exactly the same experience. This is quite more polished.

Material debug: 1. • gorman, there is SqueezePlay for Linux, but you probably knew that already. SqueezePlay has a user interface that is similar to the Squeezebox Touch and Jivelite. You will need to create your own desktop shortcut, but that is an easy job.

                              • Hi. I am new to Squeezelite-X, which I just installed on my Windows 11 machine from the Microsoft Store.

I am getting the error message: "Unable to confirm squeezelite player Squeezelite-X. Check port 3483 is open."

Click image for larger version Name:	Squeezelite-Z Check port 3483.png Views:	0 Size:	35.8 KB ID:	1637618

SLX apparently finds my LMS server; it shows the right host name. Also, Squeezelite-X appears in the list of players on LMS. (That is, on the LMS Status page, SLX is listed as a player under "Player Information.")

What am I supposed to do? This is a firewall issue? I'm using Windows Defender. Squeezelite-X appears in the list of allowed apps in Windows Defender. (If there's a way to open a specific port, I can't find it.) Turning off Windows Defender does not make the error go away.

One possible wrinkle is that my LMS is piCorePlayer running on a Raspberry Pi. It has its own version of squeezelite, by which I run a different player.
