Believe me, I've tried the -static and the normal version, with and without Autosave, with and without "Generate" - it never created a config file. No idea if I need to do some magic or to sacrify chicken ... I just gave up.

Are you aware of any open source application that would work to send audio to the Denon? I could then easily look at the code. Or even does tuneblade (I’m in contact with the dev) or another app like that work (there a few whose name is escaping to me now). You could then capture their exchange to make sure that they all use pair-setup, that would also confirm that this is really the issue

MP3 not playing on Apple TV3

Hi,
the bridge works well on my DS418j Arm8 64 bit.
But: MP3 are not played on Apple TV3, Flac and m4a work fine.

In LMS Advanced/ File Types MP3 is disabled on all file formats and on mp3 it is native.
In Airplay Bridge settings MP3 is enabled( by default).

Before i did fresh DSM install i had Bootsrap installed, which let me install some Lame mp3 encoder through IPKG.
I dont know if that is neccesarry, i would rather not install Bootstrap.

Have you looked into the possibilities to have LMS to be able to broadcast all players as Airplay devices? I.e. opposite to current plugin.

the mystery is solved!!!

Today Denon customer service called me back. Apart from all the bla bla like "we only guarantee Airplay to work with Apple devices" the guy told me that there have been an update in the first week of August which is not yet listed on the website (changelog etc.). This update introduces Airplay 2 ... and that's what broke it!

While I was checking the firmware history again (under the perspective that the June update was *not* what did break it), I saw that the November update on their website (which I've tested as a fallback) was not complete! It only contained a "HWS update file" while the June update contained in addition a HEOS update. So my though was that the November update did downgrade the hardware/GUI part but not the HEOS part (which likely contains the Airplay components).

So I went back to the June update and voila - Airplay is working again

I have the updates disabled now on my Denon to stay at this firmware - at least until the Airplay Bridge maybe one day will be compatible to Airplay 2.

Also I need to WARN all forum members who are using similar AVR devices: Stay away from updates which introduce AirPlay 2!!! This will break things!

Excellent - That makes sense. Denon guys really did a bad job because airplay2 update should still work with airplay1 clients.

Re airplay2 compatibility ... Apple does not seem to have any intention to release the protocol ... so very unlikely

Yap, Philippe ... I have the same opinion and told them to file this as a bug (because it must be backwards compatible to AP1!).

Let's see how this proceeds, for now I've disabled upgrades. I don't need AP2, but I need it working with my LMS.

Hi,

like the Denon Airplay 2 update ,the updated firmware 7.8 from the Airport Express also brokes playback. Firmware is for Airplay 2. Revert back and everything is working again!

DON'T UPDATE YOUR AIRPORT EXPRESS !!!

Sonos’ AirPlay mode is AirPlay 2 only, so they do not work with my AirPlay Bridge
