  • Custom Clock for Jivelite with 800x480 Screen

I have modified erland's "Custom Clock" screensaver applet to create a version which works with Picoreplayer/Jivelite and the official Raspberry PI 7" touch display.
It requires a license from erland for Custom Clock, and requires the License manager plugin on LMS, and the License Manager applet running on Jivelite.
It is intended to work on Picoreplayer with Jivelite installed, and is for a 800x480 screen (such as the official Raspberry Pi 7" screen), but I am also using with an 800x480 HDMI screen on my older Raspberry Pi configuration. Not ALL of the Jivelite versions use the same version of Lua, so it won't work with all versions of Jivelite.

    -
Repository for using the Applet Downloader is:

Add this to the Additional Repositories list on the LMS Plugins tab.

For those who want to do a manual installation of the applets.
Files can be found at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/sup...iles/CC_STUFF/
To install into JiveLite on PiCorePlayer, you need to create two applet directories on your PiCorePlayer at: /home/tc/.jivelite/userpath/applets
First is "CustomClock", and you need to place the extracted files from the "CustomClock_JL_800x480_001.zip" file. Second is "LicenseManager", and place the extracted files from the "LicenseManager_Applet_001.zip" file.

I've also placed files for a modified "Custom Clock Helper" plugin for LMS in the same location. The changes are minor: there is a setting on the Custom Clock Helper settings page to indicate "jivelite800x480" as a model, and the plug-in points to an updated data file with a couple of new Custom Clock screens.

Other Notes on CustomClock for Jivelite_800x480

At this point, the VU Meter and Spectrum Analyzer visualizations for the Jivelite Custom Clock applet do not work. The original CustomClock applet uses functions not available in JiveLite. It's POSSIBLE that these may be made functional in the future...

        Information Added to Earlier Posts

The earlier posts on this thread were incomplete - I was still trying to work out some of the kinks.
I have posted links to the files to enable a manual install of the applets if you are anxious to try them.

I am attaching a couple of screensavers I built which use the SuperDateTime weather information (I have a "Fahrenheit" and a "Celsius" version).
These text files should work to "paste" into the Custom Clock Helper import field, even if you don't update the Custom Clock Helper plugin (but you will need to install the CustomClock and LicenseManager applets onto your Picoreplayer/Jivelite.

Picture of SDT Screensaver on JiveLite

Here's a (poor) picture of the sample screensaver I've implemented for Custom Clock on Jivelite for the 800x480 size screen. It makes use of the extra real-estate on the screen (significantly more than a Touch).

Hi thanks for making this possible.

We originally had problems with our own applet repository, and it turned out that there was a bug in LMS 7.9 which was later fixed. So you will need to use a very recent LMS - see here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...-LMS-7-9-issue

Also our link is different from yours - if you try ours it opens the xml directly in the browser, whereas yours download a file after some time. I think that could be the reason.
            Our link is: http://picoreplayer.sourceforge.net/repo.xml

Steen - would you know how I could get that direct link for any URL we have? I've encountered some issues with those re-directions in the helper script we're using to create the main repository file.

I'm not sure if I understand what you are asking.
We log into Sourceforge (I use WinSCP) to this host: "web.sourceforge.net"

Then we upload the repro.xml file to:
                /home/project-web/picoreplayer/htdocs/repo.xml

                and the zip file to

                /home/project-web/picoreplayer/htdocs/repo/piCorePlayer-1.0.zip

I was wondering about the user-facing URL. After all I can't SSH into
all the other dev's Sourceforge accounts :-). Would the dev have to do
what you describe to get that simplified URL?

Yes I believe that they would have to do that.

Still no joy. I made copies of the zip files, and moved them to my project directory per the link you posted. I updated the .xml file. I added the repo link to the Plugins repository link:

It "sees" the applets available (as it did before), and now it at least seems to try to download the applets (before it would only create a blank directory). Howerver, I get "Downloading Applets" with the spinning animation, but it never actually installs. I don't see anything obvious in any log files.

                        ----OK!
Found that I had the links incorrect in the xml file. Modified the links, and the applets install!

                          Repo UP!

The repository for installing the CustomClock and LicenseManager applets onto Jivelite is working.

Add the following path to the Additional Repositories list on the Plugins tab in LMS:

I installed the custom clock and license manager applets per your instructions, got my license. Everything seems to have installed without a problem. I would like to ask how I might set the configuration #1,2,3...etc. on the Custom Clock Settings page?

Do you have CustomClockHelper plugin on LMS? If so, you can use the Import feature to import one of the screens I posted as .txt. They specify the new "jivelite800x480" model. The import opens up a text box where you can paste the CONTENTS of the screensaver .txt file.
