Thanks - Hopefully, dev-2 that I just uploaded should solve this (please de/re-install after you've seen *this* post as I did 3 uploads of dev-2, so you might have the wrong one)

[edit] our posts might have crossed, but do the update just to be sure

Working OK here on Windows 7. I did have to un-install and re-install.

      • Status (Play, Pause) when Casting

        Hello,

first of all let me thank you for this great software. It was easy to set up and I am really happy!

I intend to use my two Chromecast-Audio for both playing from my LMS but also to cast music from devices directly via the google-cast functionality or from Spotify.

And it works. BUT, I also would like to see the status in the LMS when casting.
I there a way to find out whether something is played over the device, even if it is not from the Squeezebox?

        Regards,
        Hendrik

I don't have a solution for that. Only the helper app knows something about CC, the Perl plugin part is just here to manage the configuration file. That's the reason why the helper can run on a different machine than LMS. So I don't have any way to tell LMS that something is happening on a CC when LMS thinks that its virtual proxy is idle. It would require a special socket communication between the helper and the Perl plugin part - complicated, and I'm not even sure that it could update the LMS "idle" display. So sorry, but I cannot work on that now.

Maybe somebody else could implement the full Bridge directly in Perl (no helper) but that would require to redo the full Cast protocol in Perl ...

The castbridge is an invaluable extension to LMS. Seriously!
However, I have some difficulties with ChromCast Audio devices.
Sometimes I find that when pressing 'Pause', they fail to resume playback when I press 'Play' again.
Most of the time, playback resumes ok.
Some times (perhaps as much as 20%) "playback" resumes, but without sound!
I have to click volume up or down to get the sound to come on.
Other times, more rare but even more annoying, the Chromecast Ausio devices don't even resume playback. they simply do not respond to 'play' at all. Pressing 'Play' repeatedly doesn't help either. The only way to make them play again, is to clear the playlist and drop new tracks or albums on them, or choose briefly another player and then return back.

These problems only appear with Chromcast Audio, not regular Chromecasts (video).
Another strange thing is that everytime I activate any of my ChromaCast Audio devices after a day or so, the speakers make a loud "Bloppe-di-blopp" sound, but only upon first time init that day. If it doesn't, I know it won't play at all.
Also sometimes, when I click the volume up or down on the client, the speakers make a single short "blipp". I'm curious to know if other have similar experience. Is it supposed to be like this? The Blipps and the Blopps I mean.

This behavior is client independent., and it hasn't changed over a number of LMS updates.
If you install the Chromecast/Google Home app on your smartphone, you can go into "Devices" menu and in the Settings for that device you can turn all the sounds off.

I get thread updates weekly. But ikke noe problem, da skal jeg ikke svare neste gang du har en problemstilling.

                    • I am trying to reinstall Castbridge onto my raspberrypi 2 -
                      operating system Debian EN utf8,
                      platform - armv7l-linux,
                      Perl 5.14.2 - arm-linux-gnueabihf-thread-multi-64int

The binary choice is between armv5te and armv5te-static

Which should I choose? I note that under the information tag is says to choose armv6hf but that does not appear as an option.

                      Thanks for your help

That's a bit weird as you platform is armhf, so you should be offered armv6hf. Is this the first Pi2? Other than that, any version should work

                        • Yes this is the first PI 2.

The armv6hf version was downloaded into the relevant directory, so it appears not to be picking it up.

Are there any diagnostics that would help resolve this problem?

                          • It means that LMS tells my plugin that it's not a hard float version, which I think it should be. There not much to do at this point, but the v5te is fine, there is not much use if floating point anyway

                              • The v5te-static version seems to work ok, but the v5te does not.

Thanks for your help on this.
