    Add Hifiberry to RPI 4

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 2GB which currently is a server only.
However I thought about using it as a player too and upgrade the RPI with a soundcard, like a Hifiberry Digi.
I am in the process of buying some smaller speakers (these) and I wonder whether I could connect a Hifiberry through COAX or Optical. What would be best?
Or should I just stay with Line-Out and buy a DAC-soundcard?
Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 2GB with LMS 8.2.0 -- Plugins: Material Skin, MAI, Podcasts, Musik - folge mir, Ratings Light, Exclude Folders -- RPI 2 with a Hifiberry DAC+ running PCP -- 2x UE Smartradios running Firmware 8.0 sth -- 2xWin10 PCs with Squeezelite-X -- DSM 7.1 (Synology Disk Station 115) has my music

Your speakers have audio input over HDMI.
That could also be a possible solution

I have the Digi board and it works well using the coax going to a Schiit Modi Dac. I also have the HifiBerry DAC+ on a smaller system and it actually sounds pretty good.

Good idea but I also thought I might be connecting my TV set.

I don't really seem to understand. You have one soundcard connected to anther soundcard? Ir am I just not audiophil enough?

So you just use the line out/cinch connection to your amplifier and it sounds good enough?

            ....
The Digi is not a DAC. It just provides a SPDIF/Toslink output, which still needs to pass through a Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) before you can hear anything. That DAC could be the Schiit Modi that kwolter mentioned, or in my case the coax input on a Yamaha A/V receiver, or numerous other choices.
Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual players (Squeezelite and Airplay bridge). Occasionally using SB Radio, Boom or Classic.

Oh oh, thanks for pointing this out It just shows how little I know about Hi-Fi... Now I am having second thoughts on the upgrade of the RPI.
But I still could use a Digi and connect this to the coax input of the speakers?

Yes you can connect the HiFiBerry Digi directly to the speakers coax or optical in, set the volume to 100% in LMS and use the speaker's remote to adjust volume.

I have both the HiFiBerry Digi and the HifiBerry DAC+ and I can hear no difference between the two into the same speakers. (I'm old).

                Server - LMS 8.4.0 RPi4B 4GB/NanoSound ONE case/pCP 8.1.0 - 75K library, playlists & LMS cache on Sata SSD (ntfs)

                Lounge - DAC32 - AudioEngine B2
                Office - RPi 3B+/HiFiBerry DAC HAT/RPi screen - Edifier D12
                Bedroom - Echo Show 8

                Spares - 1xSB Touch, 1xSB3, 4xRPi, AVI DM5 speakers

Yes. I was a little unclear if that was a coax input on that speaker model.
