    Fosi Audio T10; best new Squeeze Player client?

    I just put this awesome little amp on my network, originally to stream Amazon Music content to, and discovered that it advertises itself on the WLAN as an LMS client!

    Slightly clumsy setup on the WLAN, you need to introduce it to the WLAN via the Legacy Player App

    on your mobile device but then you can manage it with the slightly better WiiM Home App
    Just hook it up to your choice of speakers and you are good to go. It sounds GREAT to me!

    Are you using the AirPlay Bridge on LMS? Is that what enables it or are you saying it has an instance of Squeezelite onboard because I can’t see that in the specs

      No Airplay Bridge, maybe the UPNP/DLNA Bridge could be doing it. Yes, it IS the UPNP/DLNA Bridge.
      All I know is that I can see it from LMS and play to it just like any other client on my network. Most of the OTHER prospective clients I installed UPNP/DLNA Bridge for have been either very disappointing or outright failures.

        It does support UPnP (DLNA) as well, so that seems the most likely in this case.
        Try to sync with other players ... that is something that does not really work, at least via LMS and plugin - a weakness in UPnP specifications.

          Well, I removed UPNP/DLNA to test your theory in a proof but now I have reinstalled it and no can see the player anymore. OH WELL, nice while it lasted.
          I installed the Air Play Bridge and now I can see the Fosi device again FWIW.

            Can you test and tell if sync via the AirPlay Bridge with other devices works without any delay?

              I have abandoned this hardware as it does NOT provide sufficient volume control for my purposes.
              I am continuing to explore other options.
              It is a pity we cannot just install squeezelite on our mobile devices and stream a Squeezebox feed to our Blutooth players.
              That would be MY preference and provide a VERY large number of delivery options for Squeezebox users.

                Which mobile devices do you have in mind?
                Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual players (Squeezelite and Airplay bridge). Occasionally using SB Radio, Boom or Classic.

                  On Android there are 2 squeezebox players - SqueezePlayer and SB Player. On iOS you need to install iPeng and then pay for the extra player addon.

                  FWIW, I have a BT adapter attached to my Pi4 (via a long USB cable) that I use to connect BT speakers in my shower and garden. I have a python script that detects when a BT device connects to the Pi and starts squeezelite. LMS is then configured to autoplay on these speakers - so I just switch one on, and after few seconds it starts to play. I belive piCorePlayer also has a similar script.
                  Material debug: 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json (Use http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json,cometd to also see update messages, e.g. play queue) 2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open console tab in developer tools 4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS will be logged here.

                    These players all work but the two I have tried also have some compromise attached to them.

                    On Android I’ve tried SB Player. Works fine but is limited to 16/48 (in fact I think it resamples 16/44.1 to 16/48) even when used with a DAC that’s capable of higher resolution. My understanding is this is a hardware related issue but as I’m an iOS person I didn’t continue further nor did I try Squeezeplayer. Not sure whether SB Player supports crossfade and/or replay gain.

                    iPeng with player mode enabled. Works very well up to 24/96 with an external DAC that’s capable of that resolution or higher. Can be initiated as a player through the iPeng app but then controlled by Material on the same iOS device but it’s compromise is that it won’t do any kind of crossfade although replay gain is supported.

                    Both work feeding a set of Bluetooth headphones / speakers where the HiRes compromise is of course completely irrelevant.

                      It is also possible to install Termux on Android devices. It is a terminal emulator packaged with a minimal Linux environment. And Squeezelite is available in the repository it uses. Information at https://termux.dev/en/. A version is available on the Google Play Store, but that version is no longer maintained, The Termux site has instructions for downloading from Github or F-Droid.

                        Hello, what is the problem with volume control that you encountered?

                        So cannot control volume to speakers directly connected to it?
