  • Would those issues explain why my 759 just stopped being responsive (green light stopped flashing and LMS too it off the list of available devices) after about an hour of playing flac?

Um, 761 what? Is that a newer version today?
I looked at post 761 but that seems unrelated.

I looked too soon this morning I guess.
Can I put the squeezeamp in 'default' mode with some vulcan neck pinch or do I have to use some kind of serial connection to upload the 761 firmware?

I don't know what you mean with vulcan neck pinch, but when your SqueezeAMP is in working condition you can use a cheap USB to serial adapter board to upload the firmware, like described in this message.

Jumpering pins or something to 'reset to factory'. Something I could do tonight rather than trying to track down a part and potentially waiting for a while before I get to use it again.
I can play music with the squeezeamp in it's current condition. To me it's a tiny appliance that I use all the time, not a science project.
The usb to serial board would collect a lot of dust after potentially one use.

                • SqueezeAMP status LED stays OFF with recent firmware versions

I have noticed that with recent Squeezelite-ESP32 firmware versions (I think since version 1.751) the green status LED of my SqueezeAMP stays always OFF. With earlier firmware version this green LED was slowly blinking when not playing music, and continuously ON when playing music. For the rest my SqueezeAMP behaves OK with the new firmware, and for me it not a problem that the status LED stays OFF. I was just wondering if other SqueezeAMP users have observed the same change in behavior.

Btw, until recently my SqueezeAMP was often not responding anymore after not being used for a few days. In this condition LMS still showed the squeezeamp as connected, and the green LED was blinking slowly. But audio playback did not work, and also the SqueezeAMP web interface was not accessible anymore. A power cycle was needed to make the squeezeamp responsive again. If this problem is solved by following fixes:
                  Code:
c236044 limit sockets used by HTTP server (#122) (2021-11-17T07:59:30-05:00)
faa9976 switching or losing server connection was exhausting sockets - release (2021-11-13T19:17:50-08:00)
, then I gladly accept that the green status LED is always OFF.

I've been a bit optimistic these days with some memory optimization that caused such structure to not properly initialized. It is fixed in 762, sorry about that

I would like to regain web access/control of the squeezeamp.
If I need to get a usb to serial adapter in order to flash it with a working image, ok.
If there is another way, well that would be nice to know.
I have looked through the github stuff and old messages and don't see anything that would be of assistance.
If I remove power, wait and plug it back in it reconnects to LMS with the same old ip address, and I can play music.
Just no control other than volume and start/stop and skip.

crackley playback. Web page was unresponsive so I pulled the power.
Playback resumed after it powered up and I checked the web page and it was up.
Out of habit I checked for updates. 759 was available, I had 728(9) before.
clicked update and it uploaded the image and had the close button on the progress popup which I clicked.
The device showed that it was in recovery. Rebooted and got no web page. Solid red led and dim solid green.
LMS shows that it is up with the regular ip address, but no web page and the player tab in lms does not work with the squeezeamp.
It does play music if I cue up some songs.
When I telnet to the device, this is what I get:
                            E (1425684) _httpd: _httpd_server: error in select (4)
                            E (1425684) _httpd: _httpd_server: error in select (4)

                            Any ideas?
                            oh - got it

Telnet into the device and type "recovery", it should reboot into recovery mode and then you have the HTTP interface
