Also - I am running more recent software
    SqueezeAmp.16.2.1290.master-v4
but it was fine with older versions as well.
You might as well move to the latest since if you want to get support from the developers then I expect that will ask that you do that.
Updating seems to resolve my connection issues.. It does connect within few seconds every time now, thanks!

    • Currently trying to connect a previously unused SqueezeAMP from the last batch to a Bluetooth speaker for output.
it is not able to hold a connection with the speaker but I cannot connect to telnet server to diagnose further.

Am running SqueezeAmp.16.2.1299.master-v4 - which is the latest available (of formal releases) as I type this.
i have enabled telnet server in NVS and am trying to connect using PuTTY telnet port 23.

can someone with same version confirm that telnet works for them and if so, what, if anything, is different to my usage as described above.

I am running my ESP Muse Luxe with firmware I2S-4MFlash.16.2.1299.master-v4, and PuTTY telnet port 23 is working for me. See screenshot below for my PuTTY settings. FYI, I have never tried to make a connection from my Muse to a Bluetooth speaker. Did you try if telnet works when your SqueezeAMP is configured for I2S output?

EDIT: I have telnet enabled on the System tab, by selecting "Telnet Only" under Services.

PS: My SqueezeAMP got lost when I relocated a few months ago... So at the moment I can only confirm that telnet works with my ESP Muse speaker.

I also tried a while ago to use SqueezeAMP with a bluetooth speaker as output, the connection was also not stable.

Somewhere i read that others also had this problem. As far as i remember the developement team said that this use case is very basic implemented
and that they do not have any plans to put developement ressources in bluetooth audio output.

Implementing more complex codecs is probably a problem too, but i would be already happy, if you could pair devices and save some paired speakers, that connect
automatically, if you turn them on. I dunno which codec SqueezeAMP supports at the moment, but SBC should be ok for most people.

            • Ok - I’ve given up on Bluetooth for now and am moving to Display questions.

i have setup a system for family member with the 128x32 display.
Was a right squeeze to get the case closed again, but managed it.
it is working but I have a query.

The NowPlaying info is not scrolling to show artist/title.
it shows it on track change (on internet radio with meta updates) but then just shows Now Playing without scrolling until next track.

I have tried various different display options in LMS (and pause/resume to get the change activated in SqueezeAMP). VU meter updates without a problem (when I have it enabled).

This is a system without local music files on LMS so, for now at least, can only try with internet radio.

edit: telnet working now - not sure what I did differently

I see this in telnet session on stream start (set to small spectrum and artist - title) - but no further similar messages on title change.
So it might be something that my RNP plugin is doing or not doing with regards to song info ... but I see same activity (or non-activity to be more correct) with BBC Sounds.

Today I updated the firmware to .1306.master-v4 and tracks are now scrolling correctly - although I did not spot a related change.

So … next … the green LED is adjacent to the display and very bright.
I would like to reduce the brightness and can see that it is possible. However, does this mean I would have to override the whole of the configuration or can I just set this one item. The docs says that the setting is ignored if using well known config.

                LED

See set_GPIO for how to set the green and red LEDs. In addition, their brightness can be controlled using the "led_brigthness" parameter. The syntax is
                [green=0..100][,red=0..100]

NB: For well-known configuration, this is ignored

I have the LED brighteness set as follows on my SqueezeAmp: green=5,red=5

My squeezeamp got lost when I relocated, so I can't test this at the moment, but according to my notes I could reduce the brightness by entering the following text in the led_brightness field in the NVS editor:
                    Code:
                    green=20,red=20
Anyway, this is easy to test. Just enter these settings or even lower settings, and check if the brightness of the status LED is reduced.

                    • Thanks both.
                      Worked fine.
I had hesitated because of the comment in the docs about it being ignored.

                          • Is it a known limitation of the SqueezeAMP that the "Sounds & Effects" can't be played in a loop? These are small mp3 files, small enough to fit into a SB's buffer, to be played in a loop without having to download the file over and over again. As I've modified the implementation in 8.4 today I wanted to test it on my SqueezeAMP. But it would stop after having it played once. I think it's a slimproto flag which would tell the player to keep the file in memory and play it in a loop.

Philippe, think it would be possible to support the repeat flag here? Guessing this is merely the starting point.
