Following five connections are needed between FTDI board and SqueezeAMP (sa) board:
    - GND (ftdi) to GND (sa)
    - TX (ftdi) to RX (sa)
    - RX (ftdi) to TX (sa)
    - DTR (ftdi) to DWL (sa)
    - RTS (ftdi) to RST (sa), via extra pin soldered on FTDI board
With this setup firmware can be flashed without pressing the RST button on the SA board.
Thanks for the connections. I tried that, but still did not get the device recognized. Then I remembered that the web installer for GrapheneOS does not work with the snap version of chromium. So, I removed that, and went through several steps (adding a couple PPAs) and installed the *.deb version in Ubuntu. Now the device is recognized---yay!. But now it throws an error when clicking INSTALL: Failed to initialize. Try resetting your device or holding the BOOT button while clicking INSTALL.

Tried RST button, but no luck. Getting closer, thanks to help here.

I'm mostly a Windows person, so I am unfortunately not familiar with that ecosystem

Did you ground the SqueezeAMP DWL and then reset?

Even with DTR to DWL and RTS to RST connected on my SqueezeAMPs, I still have to ground DWL and then reset to enter programming mode...

My batch 1 and batch 2 SqueezeAMPs have a switch "S2" on the underside which grounds DWL...

S2 is shown in the pictures of the github readme: https://github.com/philippe44/Squeez.../3.x/README.md

And here's a copy of my notes on connecting the adapter:

Additional info: For flashing firmware I have used the Espressif ESP32 download tool on a Windows PC. For more info see following post:

This is the setup that worked! Indeed, no reset was needed. My only hang up was that the snap version of chromium (which is the default installation on Ubuntu) has some sandbox protection that prevents recognizing the device. Installing the *.deb version from a repo worked. Many thanks!

EDIT: For anyone else needing to install the deb version of chromium on ubuntu: https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php...b-ubuntu-2204/ Install by CLI using these instructions, and then follow the further instructions on the correct order of things. I hope that there is a better way than this.

I have been playing/experimenting with the new squeezeamps for over a week. This thing is great. Pretty amazing what it can do, especially given the size. I think I made mistakes putting the case together, though, since the board moves around inside. I am probably missing something simple, but I can also print a brace for inside. I ordered the cheap displays, and will add these when they arrive. Pretty cool.

                Hi Philippe,
Started having issues with my new squeezeAmp for last few days. Sometimes on boot it is not able to connect to WiFi I believe. Green light just keep flashing. Its within WiFi range and once connected (after few power up tries)it shows 69% signal quality.
I wonder if its power adaptor, Ive been using 12V 1A, is that sufficient ? Also when I power it down from wall socket I can see LED dimming as power supply goes down, is that safe shutdown method for squeezeamp? Thanks

Which version are you running? Also, which brand of access point?

                    fw: SqueezeAmp.16.2.1254.master-v4., mode: SqueezeAMP

Router is BT Home Hub 5 but its running OpenWrt 19.07.8.. No Wifi6 also no close by neighbours interference .. SqueezeAmp was working fine since I received it in December, only started misbehaving last week ish.

Today I left it with flashing light and it eventually connected.. I don't have another power adaptor to check.. One I'm using is repurposed old one, maybe its dying..
