ssh to the controller and delete
/usr/share/jive/applets/DefaultSkin/sounds/shutdown.wav
/usr/share/jive/jive/splash.wav
-kdf
Thanks!
Is there a reason why we don't want the boot sounds to be affected by the sound settings available in the settings menu ?
Is it just that no one have had the time to implement it yet ?

That I cannot answer. I don't go to the meetings

probably a bit of both, and maybe a reason or two more. It's a new
product. It's very featureful when you think back to slimp3/
slimserver3.0. Lots more to do and it all need to be done one at a
time.
Could someone please give us a quick run down on SSH'ing, i would also like to do this as the splash sound is very crap. Also, is it possible to add/remove wallpaper this way?

settings->advanced->remote login.
check the box
then from a terminal (or windows ssh client):
ssh <ip> -l root
<IP> is the ip address of the controller, shown in the popup when you
enable remote login.
With this being one of the top Google results for "squeezebox controller boot sound" I figured it worth pointing out that the sounds now seem to be in /usr/share/jive/applets/SetupSoundEffects/sounds/ . My experience was that even after renaming the shutdown sound, it wasn't until after a reboot that the change stuck.
