The demise of my SmartMix plugin revealed the fact that many users particularly liked it's Don't Stop The Music feature. I therefore decided to implement a basic Don't Stop The Music plugin in LMS 7.9: as soon as you approach the end of the currently queued up music, it will try to add some matching music to keep the party going.
Don't Stop The Music currently offers a selection of previously available options, but in a different way. You've got the choice of keeping the music playing using RandomPlay (optionally only using genres of the current playlist), Spotify Recommendation mixes, Deezer Smart Radio (with questionable success). The plugin only provides the infrastructure to automatically trigger some playlist addition etc. But it should be fairly simple for any plugin author to provide more options.
What other options would you like to see?
You'll find the options in the player's settings (web UI or Squeezeplay based UIs, iPeng etc.). You might need to restart the controller/player to make them show up. But please give it a try.

Nice, this will cover the loss of Smart Mix in my case. Most of the time I used the don't stop the music function.
I will try it as soon as I update the Synology packages. Thx!

I downloaded this and used it at an afternoon garden party we had last Saturday. Even though tagging is a difficult art and my collection has its shortcomings in that regard, there was barely a questionable selection for several hours. I don't know how it's doing its thing in such a smart way, but it is a great addition to LMS.

Which play option were you using? I haven't been able to get a good success out of this. I have most of my library tagged pretty well too as far as the genre. It goes all over the place with song mix(limited to current genre). If I'm playing jazz the don't stop feature seems to add every type of genre to the playlist, not just jazz. It'll be going from Miles Davis to Slipknot to Norah Jones to Run DMC. haha

I've just tried the Song Mix (limited to current genres). I listened to a jazz album and it added a perfectly pure jazz playlist. Are you sure that your library is tagged pretty well?

when you use the function "multiple genres" like me - it might get tricky.
You start with a track that has genre "Jazz;Ambient" its "hard to tell" what genre is picked for the next track.
bth i dont know whats the difference between "DSTM" and the old random Mix.

DSTM only triggers whatever other source to add tracks. But it's still
Random Play which does the mix. So the behaviour should not have changed
in any way. The only problem could be if DSTM picked the "wrong" genre.
I have to double check whether I got that right and am dealing with the
multiple genres case.
