Linux and Mac users can tune out...

I'm running Slimserver on Win98SE, and I find it curious that
the Squeezebox icon is only visible in the system tray when
the web page is open. Close the web page and the icon goes
away. As such, there's not much utility in the icon.

Most applications with which I am familiar use an icon in the
system tray as a way of bringing up the application's
interface when it is closed, and as means of indicating that
the underlying application is still running. I, for one,
would find this useful with Slimserver, since leaving the web
page open on a 400MHz Pentium II degrades Slimserver's
performance, especially when transcoding FLAC.

Is the current behavior the way it was designed to work? If
not, is it worth filing a bug report?

definately ;)

I think it might have stemmed from the merger a while back of the service and
the UI into a single EXE. I'm sure the icon used to be there all the time.
