View Full Version : Squeezebox Classic won't power on

I've got a Squeezebox Classic that won't power on.
At first it was intermittently failing to respond to the remote.
Then it just died. Checked the PSU with voltmeter: > 5V.
Removed WiFi card: did not help.

When I plug in the squeezebox, I can see a flashing red LED near the optical output.
Otherwise unresponsive.

What's my next troubleshooting step here?

Thanks!

I can't easily see the back of my SB3 as it is mounted. But I'm pretty sure the red optical light should just be "on" and not blinking "on/off".

Best I can suggest is to check the Brightness from the IR remote button and check for a loose power connection at the SB3 psu input.

Sorry to clarify, is it the optical port flashing red or a light near it.

It wasn't a squeezebox but I had a Roku Sound bridge where the PSU measured OK when there was no load, but dropped right down as soon as any load was applied, swapping the PSU resolved the issue, just a thought but worth checking the supply voltage when plugged in if you can.

I also recently had a SB3/Classic power supply die.

When measured under no load with multimeter, got 5v. However, using compatible power supply on SB3 it powered on straight away (thank goodness!:)).

Power supply is cheap thing to try first, if nothing else!

New power supply from eBay fixed my dead Squeezebox Classic. Thanks to all

I've just registered if only to thank you so much for this thread, it saved my nerves and mainly my Squeezebox! I've had exactly the same symptoms as el_chupacabra and a new power supply solved the problem. Thanks one more time, what would I (and my wife also) do without our Squeezebox!
