Is anyone working on or aware of a plugin for Slim which will allow to
record internet radio stations? I am thinking of something which would
allow for the recording of particular shows based on a centralized playlist
from RadioIO, Shoutcast, etc. Tivo for internet radio, essentially.

Sounds great! There are several American internet radio broadcasts that I would like to listen to, but the time difference makes it inconvenient.

I am aware of several PC programs that can be set up to time-record through a soundcard, but they are not that convenient. Integration with Slimserver (or through SqueezeBox?) would be great.

Features that would be nice to include:
1. Set a time for a recording, with the ability to select a timezone for the station.
2. Select recording format (eg. FLAC or MP3)?
3. Use the radio station name as the folder name, and the start date/time as the file name.
4. Option to specify a maximum size for the overall recording folder repositry (to avoid filling up the disk).

Well... it should be reasonably easy to do. As far as the mechanics of
listening to a show, and dumping it down to disk in a given format...
you could butcher the AlienBBC transcoder to do that really very
quickly. The easiest suggestion would be to leave the transcoder as a
separate process, and steer it via socket connection ('start now...
record for <x> minutes and exit, saving to <this> file in <this>
format'). Then you'd need a process to schedule these, and interface
work to select the shows, etc. Easy enough to do, and it'd work with any
music format that AlienBBC can deal with.

If somebody's interested... I'm happy to butcher the proxy to do that. I
don't have anything like the time and energy for the remainder of the
project, though, and I think that's the bigger chunk.
