Such is my inability to the do the aforementioned hack (think the one
you mean is here:
http://lists.slimdevices.com/archives/discuss/2004-January/024214.html)
I approach this is a somewhat roundabout way.

Given I run Windows (AlienBBC is a linux/mac thing only) I go to the
trouble of recording the radio program using Live Sound Recorder and
then playing it back in MP3 format just like any (albeit large) MP3 file.

Luckily as what I want is the BBC and I live on the east coast of the
US, the time difference means I often have to listen to a recording
anyway on the BBC's listen again service, so it makes no difference, as
Live Sound Recorder enables you to set a timer to record the show.
Assuming you BBC player doesn't drop its connection during the recording
process, which can be hugely annoying, it does for me until live
real/windows streaming works (or the BBC shifts to open formats).

Anyway just thought I'd pass it on in case it would work for anyone else.

cheers,
n
