For the past two days, I have been unable to access Sirius XM via LMS. The error I get is:

500 Can't connect to sirius1.service.zing.net:443 (Bad hostname 'sirius1.service.zing.net')

I saw a thread from last year with the same issue. Is anyone else seeing this or know how to get around the problem?

siriusXM working for me currently (in US). turn off PC running NAS, then reboot your Router and restart your PC running LMS.

I'm seeing the same problem. Reboot of server and router had no effect.

reported this yesterday too, but I am having no problems listening to SiriusXM via LMS today either. I'm in eastern US and I'm listening right now to "Deep Tracks" on SiriusXM. So I don't know if this is an isolated problem for only some SiriusXM users (on the SiriusXM or LMS side) or some network problem you may be having. I can only confirm that it is not an outage for every user. My only suggestion in this type of case is to start with turning off PC running LMS and then reboot router and restart PC running LMS. That fixes a multitude of network connection problems.

I doubt that this is any kind of localized network problem since this was brought to my attention by yet another person with the same issue. He and I are also both on the east coast.

Good to know that it isn't out everywhere, but no idea what the common issue might be at this point.

It may be a situation where people roll off after a certain amount of time.

Same ISP ? Sometimes weird issues can popup somewhere on the Internet between you and the desired radio station .

Hmmm, not sure about that - I'm on Comcast.

I'm on COX at the moment. Have Comcast at another location, but I'm not there to test.

p.s. just because I was curious, I've been on SiriusXM for the last few hours and not had any stoppages (Tom Petty's Buried Treasure show on Deep Tracks).

(and I assume you have rebooted computer running LMS and your router, correct?.....Just because many people have the same issue doesn't mean its not a local user problem. I've seen hundreds of people here at the forum report similar problems that seem to have something in common only to see many of them turning out to be a local network setup problem).

Yes, so far I rebooted router and LMS server.

I've been running fine since the last similar Sirius outage last February so I will be very surprised if it is something local (but I guess you never know).

If you ping sirius1.service.zing.net, what IP do yo get?

A ping from my machine results in a timeout.

Not good works for me from Sweden , if ping does not work the error is not within LMS or mysqueezebox.com , note I do not have SiriusXM but i can ping it . Try to ping the ip directly 209.196.216.16 if that works it's an DNS issue somewhere can be isp or what not if the ip does not work it's another kind of routing error , suggest you contact your ISP about it .

mikael@MintDesktop ~ $ ping -c5 sirius1.service.zing.net
PING grs.zing.siriusxm.com (209.196.216.16) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 209.196.216.16: icmp_req=1 ttl=230 time=111 ms
64 bytes from 209.196.216.16: icmp_req=2 ttl=230 time=111 ms
64 bytes from 209.196.216.16: icmp_req=3 ttl=230 time=111 ms
64 bytes from 209.196.216.16: icmp_req=4 ttl=230 time=110 ms
64 bytes from 209.196.216.16: icmp_req=5 ttl=230 time=111 ms

--- grs.zing.siriusxm.com ping statistics ---

rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 110.928/111.079/111.278/0.112 ms

Then pingin the actual ip

mikael@MintDesktop ~ $ ping -c5 209.196.216.16
PING 209.196.216.16 (209.196.216.16) 56(84) bytes of data.

You can also try http://www.sirius1.service.zing.net in a browser you should be redirected to an https site and get an error message (it's not actually meant to be browsed)

To confirm the error you could try via an intenet proxy service and see if it works .

Or do you have some proxy scheme in action already ? some people do this for varius reason . this could be a problem

Not sure who fixed or what changed, but it started working on and off last night and was working this morning when I checked.

Happened to me a few days ago, but only on one player (a Boom in one of the guest rooms). Other players in the house were fine. "Rebooted" the Boom (i.e. unplugged it), and then it worked. Pretty weird.
