View Full Version : Slimserver 5.4; Running RSS Ticker stops server

Hello peeps,

More newbie problems I'm afraid.
I run Slimserver on an SME server (linux).
Drives a wired Squeezebox (softsqueeze, Winamp inter alia)

Upgraded to 5.4 on announcement, upgraded the firmware etc.
Leapt to the RSS News Ticker.

Chose a feed; Squeezebox told me it lost contact with server.
Restarted slimserver; problem reproduced.

Any pointers to what information I need to find to assist in
diagnosis?

It's working fine for me although I have usability issues that I was about
to post.

This is a known problem with older versions of perl. SME is using 5.6 (I'm
running slimserver on an SME server, too). Comment out line 350 in the
RssNews.pm file (plugins folder). This helped for me.

Thanks, Michael. That's got it working.
Now, in Screen Saver mode it cycles through the feeds - and top line
of the [old ]display shows feed name.
Line 2 shows "%2s --%3s"
[Ideally, I want to leave it "ON" and in RSS Screensave mode]
