who about creating a SB with integrated speackers ?
It would be great to have all-in-one,
then it would be great having SB-wireless-stream
in a room e.g. kitchen or bathroom without having additional speakers and wires.

best,
j.

Yes, that's a thing I would like.

If Slimdevies' thinking is that they're never
going to do this, it would be nice to know, so we
can think of other options (perhaps the OnTour
speakers).

If it's a "maybe someday, but not at the top of
our list", then I guess I would be prepared to
wait in hope.

No argument there. I would love a couple of these for the house, or
something like the Bose iPod Sound dock for the squeezebox.

Me too. When I bought the Squeezebox, I was actually looking for a
clock radio replacement. I'm running mine in the bedroom with a junky
little amp and a pair of wall-mounted speakers, but an integrated unit
would be neater and more convenient for that location.

I'm hoping for something for the coming summer season -- something to
take outside on my deck, something to put nearby when working in the
garden. Compared to the cost of putting in outdoor speakers or the
hassle of lugging powered speakers and a Squeezebox outside and then
back inside -- I'd buy an all-in-one Squeezebox unit in a minute.

Lets not be too harsh here - there's a new revision of the Slimserver
software out and an updated Softsqueeze. In the recent past we had an
improved screen and these coloured cases - both of which look great.
These are relatively low hanging fruit but show a continual
improvement.

A new case would likely be expensive in the volumes Slim would order
and all in one devices would be highly risky diversions for a small
company.

Those asking for portables - in the interim have you considered active
speakers - i'm running a set of Acoustic Energy Aego 2,1's on my PC
and they sound great. I'm considering a set for the bedroom 'clock
radio' squeezebox - a hideaway sub and pair of small sat's are ideal
for the bedroom.

I use powered speakers now, but you have 3 things to plug in (2 speakers
plus the SB) and an audio cable running from the SB to each of the
speakers. And it's all somewhat heavy and clunky, because you also need
a power strip (my deck has an outlet but only for 2 plugs). And if it
looks like rain, back in it all goes. And I can't take it away from the
deck and with me in the garden. (Obviously much of this does not apply
to bedroom/clock radio usage.)

On the other hand, it's a great setup when it's set up, if you get what
I mean, and people are routinely impressed by it. I'm just looking for a
little more convenience and flexibility.
